Well, during my university days in Moscow, we used to run AutoCAD Version 14 & 16 on windows XP with the following configurations: RAM - 256MB, HDD - 80GB, Processor - Pentium 4, and it was loading fine. We did all our projects fine and good without any problems. If you are into real-time graphics, I will advice you to go for an Apple Mac desktop ofcos if you can afford one but if finance is a problem then you can go for any windows PC or laptop with a minimum of RAM - 2GB, Processor - dualcore @3.00GHZ because of 3D effects on the latest versions.
