It all happened when a traditional Eggon cult group embarked on administering oath on all its people by giving them some water to drink. It was gathered that before then instances of witchcraft and adultery had pervaded the community with sexual immorality practiced openly between even married people. And that the administration of water oath was to abate this moral turpitude. The Alakyo chief priest administered this oath on all whether Christians or Muslims of Eggon extraction. There was no single soul reported lost as a result of the chief priest action, however, it was a serious constitutional breach of the rights of Christians and Muslims. On the strength of this development, the Nasarawa State Security Council was conveyed based on intelligence report. Consequently, it was resolved that security should be deploy to demolish the Shrine and bring the chief priest death or alive. Over 115 security men with 12 Hilux patrol vehicles from different security formations were mobilized for this operations. Unfortunately the information of the decision leaked to the Alakyo traditional cultists who also organized an ambushed which became the waterloo for these officers who were murdered in cold blood including an Assistant Commissioner of Police. Ten of the vehicles were reportedly burnt. The cultists did not only hacked down the security men but also burnt their bodies beyond recognition. The where about of the official arms of the men remains unknown till date.
