Lagos Business School MBA Vs Fed Universities' MBA by chrmn1: 2:04pm On May 12, 2013 |
Hi peeps, pls I urgently need informed advice regarding the following: I want to do an MBA program and Lagos business School readily comes to mind but is much costlier than doing mba programs in schools like ife or lag, etc. I want to know if that extra chunk of money I would pay at LBS would be worthwhile or if it'd be wise to just do mba programs of likes of schools I listed above |

Lagos Business School. It's the only one that I've seen featured in any international ranking, albeit poorly. |

@OP, LBS is the best business school this side of the planet (West Africa). Don't even waste your time with MBAs from any Federal or State Uni in Nigeria. But LBS is as expensive as a UK MBA mind you 2 Likes |
Re: Lagos Business School MBA Vs Fed Universities' MBA by fsb(m): 11:45am On May 24, 2013 |
AjanleKoko: @OP, LBS might be the most expensive in Nigeria but it is no where as expensive as an MBA from a top school in the UK or US... |
Re: Lagos Business School MBA Vs Fed Universities' MBA by AjanleKoko: 12:07pm On May 24, 2013 |
fsb: LBS these days charges over N5m for their Executive MBA program If you're talking business schools like Said (Oxford), Imperial, London Business School, Manchester, maybe not. But the average for the regular schools (including some of the redbricks like Durham or Warwick) is not necessarily more than that. Even Imperial's distance learning program is about N6m equivalent, roughly. |
Re: Lagos Business School MBA Vs Fed Universities' MBA by fsb(m): 2:17pm On May 24, 2013 |
AjanleKoko: Well that's for the EMBA. The full-time MBA is just over N3m. It's definitely cheaper than thinking of INSEAD which will set up back about N12 - 16m for example. Anyway, sha...expense is all relative. Some silver spooned fellow will read this post and wonder what the fuss is all about... 4 Likes |

Does anybody have relevant information about them. I got admission in 2008 but I declined the admission because of cost and I had no working experience. I also want to know how relevant they are to recruiting firms in Nigeria. |
Re: Lagos Business School MBA Vs Fed Universities' MBA by AjanleKoko: 12:10pm On May 27, 2013 |
Boss13: London Business School is not the average UK MBA. It's categorized with schools like Wharton, Columbia, Harvard, INSEAD, etc. I was referring to the regular programs which Nigerians go for. The Astons, Hulls, Henleys, Brunels, etc. 1 Like |

AjanleKoko: You are right as regards Brunel MBA being under 5million but why would I bother applying to schools in that category? Are they better than LBS? My OPINION is that LBS offers the requisite knowledge in a local context. I want to learn about doing business in the Nigerian economy. If I had the finances to travel out, I would go for a school with "clout" INSEAD, IESE, ESADE, Harvard etc where a Fortune 500 would grab me before my program was completed. In the end, I don't see how a Brunel MBA beats LBS MBA....so its LBS all the way 1 Like |

fsb: IESE is not a Tier 1 school. You probably mean IE Business school, Madrid. 1 Like |

fsb: Brunel is no LSE or Cranfield, but it's still a bit far-fetched to compare it's MBA programme with Lagos Business School's. Brunel is still a top 20 business school in the UK with a 15m average starting salary. Not a lot, but better than most (with limited experience) in LBS. When it comes to business education in the UK, I wouldn't touch the top 20 in the FT rankings below. Regardless, LBS' Executive MBA (not the traditional) is still in the top 60 globally and 2nd in Africa, and the school's profile is top-notch for it's price and environment. Re: Lagos Business School MBA Vs Fed Universities' MBA by Sammy107d(m): 8:09pm On May 30, 2013 |
AjanleKoko: It's actually funny. While the school is indeed very highly ranked, it doesn't evoke that tier 1 emotion as Bocconi, HEC or IE does. I actually saw a resume with IESE recently and I only went all 'not baaad...' If only I knew lol.. |
Re: Lagos Business School MBA Vs Fed Universities' MBA by AjanleKoko: 8:10am On May 31, 2013 |
Sammy107_d: IESE was the partner school to LBS in the early days, before they got their license from the government. The first few sets of LBS products were awarded IESE degrees. I have worked with a couple of their faculty, who were the original founders of LBS, Juan Elegido and Patrick Merino. Sharp old men 1 Like 1 Share |
