WHAT IS NIGERIAN CONTENT POLICY

Nigerian Content is defined as the quantum of composite value added or created in the Nigerian economy through the utilisation of Nigerian human and material resources for the provision of goods and services to the petroleum industry within acceptable quality, health, safety and environmental standards in order to stimulate the development of indigenous capabilities

The targets set by the Federal Government for Nigerian content is 45% by 2006 and 70% by 2010

WHAT DOES THIS IMPLY

This means that by law, oil producing companies are to carry out their design, construction and installation of oil facility locally using locally sourced manpower but not compromising quality delivery. These projects were previously done overseas. To drive this home, any bidding done for any oil company, by law a specific percentage of the local content must be stated before the bidder is given a consideration (the target is 45% in 2006 and 70% in 2010.



Now by 2010, Nigerians are going to carry out 70% of all Design, construction and installation of oil facilities.

To be part of this you cannot afford to sit down and wait, you have to take action to be part of the opportunities in the oil and gas industry.
