Nnenna is one act that has really surprised and impressed me.It took one single perfomance of hers to convince me that this artiste is pure grammy material.She may not have the popularity of her contenders but she's getting there most definitely.Her music is a true definition of african come world music and she sure can sing.Asa is also a girl whom we all know has got what it takes to also win the grammies.Do not disregard Seun kuti.He is also a paradigm of world music and african roots discovery.We've got the artistes for sure but the question is,who is going to snatch the prize.The results may actually be beyond our widest expectations.

I disagree with you.There's a category in the grammy awards called the world music category.This is the section in which african artistes are nominated.Femi kuti and king sunny Ade has once been nominated in it but no nigerian act has yet won it.

Anything can happen at the grammies.Ask 50cent.You can never be sure whom those white goons will find worthy.I dont think the grammy is for everyboy.Many are called but few are chosen.We nigerians all act so myopic like winning the award is the end of the world.For the love of heaven,lets create our own "grammies" and have a sense of individuality.

waasere omo, i concur. lets create our own awards. Nairaland is a forum of nigerians both at home and in the diaspora. I believe we are over a hundred thousand members. If we create our own Nairaland Awards and give all the hype in the world, media publicity and all that, it could make alots of sense for our artistes. Then we create a category called "World Music Category (copy copy and overlifitng cheesy ) where we would feature american and uropean artistes, dem go begin dey respect us small small. Nigerians are sentimental in giving out awards. We dont reward productivity and hardwork. The only awards we would be good at would be our own indeginous awards like Juju, Fuji, Apala and co, but for Hiphop hell no!!!! We reward the ones that make snse to the organisers of the awards. We reward the one that sells not the person who keeps it original and gives music its original definition. We need to cure these sickenesses before the above can be acheved by any body,

I love modenine. I love hs music and i know/m sure/believe he would do us proud, He is a poet, a philosopher and a lyricist.

I love ASA. Love her music. She is a poet, a lyricist and her voice makes me go gaga,

I love beautifu nubia. I like his music. He is intelligent too,

right now i think it's only asa that has the potential of winning a grammy and maybe cobhams when he sings ,this jeremiah gyang too and maybe fela as for p-square,d-banj,2-face, no way in the next ten years, did any body mention that local village popular musician,9ice,in the next 25 yrs he has not even won a nomination what do you think grammy is,hip hop award? even 50 cents and akon don't have any grammys yet.
