How ex-gov Peter Odili, Anenih, Onyuike-Okereke, others got oil blocs - DPR
By Otei Oham, Correspondent, Abuja

Former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili, Senator Lee Maeba (PDP, Rivers), former Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Tony Anenih, and former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, are among those who got oil bloc contracts between 2005 and 2007, a report by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) said.

Another former senator who equally benefited oil bloc contracts, the report added, is David Dafinone, an accountant.

Director of DPR, Tony Chukwueke, had forwarded the report, tagged "DPR 2005, 2006 Mini, 2007 Bid Rounds," to the National Assembly just as members of House of Representatives resolved on Tuesday to probe the agency, alongside the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for alleged discrepancies in their operations since 1999.

Members of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) are currently studying the report, which they said on Wednesday would be useful to the 26-man panel raised by the House to conduct the probe.

A member of the panel, Halims Agoda, who moved the motion to quiz the two agencies, said members were set to begin the probe, and there would be no sacred cow.

Those the DPR report also named as beneficiaries of the contracts are the Director General of Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE), Ndi Onyuike-Okereke, late Senate President, Evan Enwerem, wife of late Head of State, Ajoke Murtala Mohammed, and those it simply identified as Bayelsa Chiefs.

According to the report, the Rivers State Government, under Odili's administration, used Zerock Oil and Gas Ltd while Bauchi State Government, under Adamu Mu'azu, used Radiant Oil and Gas Ltd as local content vehicle companies to acquire deepwater bloc contracts.

The oil blocs, the report stated, are in the Chad Basin, Benue Trough, Anambra Basin, Niger Delta Onshore and Continental Shelf, and Deep Offshore.

when moral virtues of the children fall then the parents are obviously to be blamed for "good" teaching, If we continue in this manner, i just wonder whether our so called parents who have been ruling this country will expect us to now bell the cat when the center can no longer hold.
