I noticed that the replies on the first page were very sensible...no insults and vague adverts...so I checked the date of the thread and saw 2008! shocked

The OP is no longer on Nairaland sef.

Thank God the tsunami of 2014 did not completely reset Nairaland back to default setting....if not...this thread for no exist again..

my interview with Dana Airline 2017. marketing Executive job. we were just 5 that attended the interview facing 5 panels 3 whites and two Nigerians

I was asked to hop in and it start with, who are you? I introduced myself my skills and what I can offer in related with what I'm applying for briefly

the white ask what was the thing I hate about myself, I gave a deep sigh because I wasn't expecting the QST neither was it part of what I prepared for. I smiles and replied " I do not like repetition but I worked on myself everyday in regards in order to have over tolerance as you know we worked on our perfection mostly everyday, he said OK

the other Nigerian asked we found that what you studied in institution is out of the field we are aspiring to occupy the vacancy. I replied marketing work go beyond institution course, average of us practice marketing mostly everyday. he said how? I said marketing is all about promotion, persuasion and convincing the buyers about a particular product, same as we convince and patronise people to buy our opinions. he asked If I've worked as a marketer before I said yes. then he said I should pick a product or service and market it for 10mins

I picked Dana airline having studied their new target and the airline slogan. I tried convincing them how is safe to fly with us, our hospitality, door to door booking of ticket, how we were awarded for our competency above all airlines and all. they'll clap for me

the other Lady said you served in anambra right? I said yes!. where was your ppa then I replied a private secondary school. what subject did you take them then, Govt and other subjects. take us one topic in govt, I joyfully pick arms of govt, when I start stressing the fact to the separation of powers, check & balance, the roles of each arms, na dem tell me to stop

what dropped me was my location and man no man things

Mine was crazy. I was referred by a friend to the company. Customer care position and I am just fresh from NYSC. That was my first interview and thinking about it now, I really messed up.

It was a panel interview. The head of the panel was one beautiful and spotless lady like one of these models we only see on TV. Boy, I lost composure o. The intonation and phonetics was killing me. I opened my mouth but no sound came out. The interview turned to a counseling session on confidence building.

Of course, I lost the opportunity and learnt from it. Customer care was really not for me as I am a hardcore Engineer but all na hustle.

My first interview was during my internship, 2016. It was in an oil company in lagos. I wore one dead suit (coat), i knew as soon as i got in that i don f*ck up. The receptionist dey look me like say i shit for body. This made me super nervous. I actually wore a parachute, forced on me by my parents. They said i looked smart in it. I be engineer, wetin concern me with tuck-in?
As i entered the interview room, based on my zero confidence, i turned around to lock the door before proceeding to take my seat without greeting anybody. As soon as i sat down, the insults started.

I con stand up again, dey say i'm sorry sir, i'm sorry ma. They just tell me to just go back that they are done with me. Mehn, na so interview take end o. As soon as i came out of the room, i saw guys on corporate, without suit. . I just dey curse everyone that contributed to my downfall.

I later learnt that you should not turn around to close a door when u walk in. Close it whilst facing front. I did not get the job obviously.
wow..... really.... I didn't know about the door closing..... I have learnt it now..... not turning back to close the door...
