Dem no born any ceo or MD to recruit at this critical time except it is very low key replacement which is risky too. So make everyone calm down. One thing I know about NRS is that you can check the latest staff number to confirm what it is. What I have done is to compare the staff ID of someone who resumed in the beginning of 2023 to the current staff ID number generated last week. People can throw figures in the air however, facts/statistics don't lie and can be verified.

I don't know about the over staffing. All I know is everyone who is a staff at the moment have jobs assigned for them. It is possible they are over staffed and it is possible they are not. I know this regime has hired so much nonetheless, I am not sure they have over hired comparing how well the agency is doing and the need to have more hands to meet the current mandate. That said, this current regime has not hired more than 5000 full time staff which means an average of about 1700 per year (this is verifiable using staff ID number from when the regime came in and today).

When did NPA start paying their new salary? I have a friend who is an Assistant Manager in NPA and he told me the pay is a little over N700k monthly and his upfront is N7m per annum. The other benefits are leave allowance and money from training allowance since they go for at least six (6) trainings annually and you can be lucky to be included in foreign training.
For NRS, I know their current monthly pay as Assistant Manager is N590k monthly however, they also get a quarterly pay of about N600k should the establishment meet their target for that quarter, they get money quarterly for wardrobe (not sure of the amount), they get two bulk grants (Relief and Subsistence), and lastly a 13th month salary.
In my opinion, pay wise, I am not convinced NPA does much better than NRS. Interestingly, both agencies are due for salary review by the end of the year.

Career wise, according to him, Principal Manager (Level 15) seems the highest level you can get to in NPA which means levels 16 and 17 are based on appointment. In NRS, currently, you can rise up to Director although the higher you go, the more challenging it becomes; however, the year you are going to retire out, they move you to the next level even if you are not due so that you can get a better severance package and retirement benefit. Which means, it is better to pursue a career in NRS than NPA, my humble opinion.

House Committee on Federal Character Condemns Continued Disregard for Parliamentary Oversight, Orders Immediate Suspension of NRS Recruitment

The House of Representatives Committee on Federal Character, chaired by the Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, has strongly condemned what it described as the continued disregard for the constitutional authority of the National Assembly by the leadership of certain federal agencies.

At today’s engagement with the Federal Character Commission (FCC), the Chairman of the Commission failed to appear before the committee, citing official travel and subsequently illness. The committee noted with deep concern that this latest absence follows a series of invitations and official communications that have not been honoured, describing the repeated failure to appear as unacceptable and inconsistent with the standards of accountability expected of public office holders.

The committee also expressed serious concern over the actions of the Federal Character Commission regarding waivers granted to the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS). The committee recalled that it had expressly directed the Commission to refrain from granting any approvals or waivers to the NRS following the persistent refusal of its Executive Chairman, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, to honour invitations from the committee. Despite that directive, the committee discovered that waivers had nevertheless been issued.

The committee described this development as a direct affront to the constitutional oversight responsibilities of the House of Representatives and a disturbing disregard for the authority vested in the National Assembly by the Nigerian people.

Consequently, the committee has directed the Federal Character Commission, under the leadership of Hon. Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, to immediately suspend all recruitment activities being conducted by the Nigeria Revenue Service until its leadership appears before the committee to account for its actions and comply with the constitutional oversight process.

Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase stated that the House of Representatives will not stand by while public institutions choose which constitutional directives to obey. He emphasized that legislative oversight is not optional, nor is it a matter of convenience for heads of government agencies.

“The National Assembly is the voice of the Nigerian people. Its constitutional oversight powers are not symbolic, they are binding instruments of accountability. No agency, commission, or public official is above the Constitution or beyond the reach of parliamentary oversight.”

The committee warned that persistent refusal by public officials to honour invitations from the House of Representatives sets a dangerous precedent, erodes public trust in democratic governance, and undermines the constitutional system of checks and balances that safeguards Nigeria’s democracy.

The committee reaffirmed its resolve to deploy every constitutional and legislative mechanism available to ensure compliance with its lawful directives and to protect the integrity of the oversight responsibilities entrusted to it by the Nigerian people.

The House Committee on Federal Character remains unwavering in its commitment to transparency, accountability, equity, and the rule of law, and will not relent until every public institution is held accountable in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
