It’s nearly ten years since Arsenal last won the Premier League title, with a top-four finish having now become the primary target each season at the Emirates Stadium.

Big-spending clubs like Chelsea and Manchester City have leapfrogged the Gunners in the pecking order, while Manchester United have remained strong despite mounting debt, although there are reasons for Gooners to be hopeful when it comes to the 2013/14 campaign.

1) Arsenal finished the 2012/13 season like a train

After that 2-1 defeat at White Hart Lane in early March, the Gunners dusted themselves down and haven’t looked back since. A 2-0 win at the Allianz Arena kick-started a brilliant unbeaten run all the way to the end of the season, with only Everton and Manchester United denying Arsenal victory.

Wenger will now be urging his team to feed off the momentum that saw them pip Tottenham to a top four spot in the Premier League.

2) The Gunners defence looks stronger than ever

It was like the George Graham days all over again! 1-0 away wins at Fulham, QPR and Newcastle were pragmatic rather than spectacular; although supporters won’t mind more of the same when the season starts up again.

Laurent Koscielny was particularly outstanding in those last few games, striking up a strong partnership with Per Mertesacker, although one wonders if Thomas Vermaelen is willing to warm the bench ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

3) Manchester clubs and Chelsea all have new managers

OK, so Jose Mourinho will enjoy his second stint at Stamford Bridge although it might take a while for the new Chelsea boss to get the right blend of players, while David Moyes and Manuel Pellegrini are both unknown quantities at Manchester United and Manchester City respectively.

Perhaps there could be a chance for Arsenal to steal a march on their title rivals, especially if Wenger is allowed to strengthen and the team’s best players remain at the Emirates for a change.

THREE REASONS WHY ARSENAL WILL NOT WIN THE EPL NEXT SEASON.
(1) Arsenal board are contented with 4TH POSITION.
(2) Arsenal don't care about their fans, they only care about REVENUE.
(3) Arsene wenger ain't moved becos he is a business man and not a coach.
NOW, WHICH one is more REALISTIC ur own or my own?

It's more likely they'll remain in top 4. The reason Arsenal fail to be serious challengers is because they lack consistency in performance.
