A 25-year-old woman, Esther Obianuju, who allegedly attempted to rob a woman of her valuables with a toy gun, was on Monday arraigned in Lagos.

Obianuju is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and attempted robbery at a Lagos High Court, Igbosere.
The accused, whose address is unknown, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Mr. W.A. Quadri, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 2, 2012, at No. 159A, Akerele Extension, Surulere, Lagos, at 2.45 p.m.
He said that Obianuju, who was armed with a toy gun, conspired with others and attempted to rob the complainant, one Miss Rukayat Abdulsalat, of her valuables.

Quadri, a state counsel, sought an adjournmentto enable the prosecution to gather witnesses and evidence.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 296 and 298 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Mr. Sporgeon Ataene, counsel to the accused, informed the court that a bail application had been filed and urged the court to consider it.
Justice Christopher Balogun, after listening to both parties, adjourned the case to June 11 for the hearing of the bail application.

He fixed July 9 for the substantive criminal trial.
