Unconfirmed reports say a senior custom officer in the Operations Department, (name witheld) who was believe to have been helping insurgents to clear arms and ammunitions at the border with neighbouring countries was arrested last week.

DailyPost in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital gathered that, the officer, who had been collaborating with Boko Haram militants had helped the insurgents get thousands of weapons, arms and ammunitions across to Borno state.

DailyPost also learnt that it was rumoured that, the officer who has been buying every available landed property in the state and choice of cars was arrested by the military following the arrest of some sect members, who after series of interrogation revealed the officer as the one of the many security officers who help them to bring weapons into the state.



Although the rumour has not been confirmed yet, the rumour of the arrest has been thick in the air, as every resident in Maiduguri have been talking about the arrest of the popular custom officer as well as other arrests made recently by the military in Maiduguri.

Commenting on the rumour of the arrest, a senior citizen, who did not want his name in print told DailyPost that, the President had made it clear that the sect had infiltrated government agencies and that their collaborators were everywhere.

“It is only prayers that can save Nigeria from its present state. The Americans have predicted that by 2015, the country would break up and our leaders are not taking the matters with the desired approach. What is happening in Borno needs full military intervention. I am one of those who does not believe in half bake approach to this issue. We need a complete takeover, and allow the military to do their best, because we have been living in a war zone since the crises started in 2009.” He said.
