Political Adviser to the President, Ahmed Gulak, has said that as long as heavyweights in the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, were alive, the party will continue to retain its power and dominance.

He made this assertion when President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday hosted members of the People’s Democratic Party to a dinner on Thursday in commemoration of Democracy Day.

The event that was attended by leadership of the party, state governors, members of the National Assembly, and other prominent chieftains, was held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa.

While speaking, Gulak expressed the party’s desire to reclaim the states it lost to opposition parties through the courts.

He went on to promise the president that as long as those in attendance were alive, “we will not let governance slip out of our hands in our life time. The foot soldiers are ready to work for you”.

He stressed tha despite criticisms, “Nigerians are satisfied with his performance and the allegations by the opposition should be ignored. The PDP is the only party that has leadership across the country, this is the first time that a president would be presenting a mid-term report in this country”.

Gulak said the “foot soldiers” of the president have refused to fight back the criticism against the Jonathan administration because “the president has restrained them from fighting back, saying that president Jonathan has the “largest heart” as a political leader.

I'm begin to fear PDP domination in Nigeria politic as it's the only party that's nationally outlook. CPC,ACN,ANPP and the others are usually committing some polical suicide these days. PDP is too strong to collapse even with current crisis within it.

Which way Nigeria? So we will continue to be held hostage by these old and recycled members of the criminal enterprise called PDP who have prioritised political banditry at the expense of good governance! When will Nigerian youths start mobilising themselves to wrestle power from theses ruling elite whose leading lights are treasury looters, sponsors of violence and patrons of crime syndicate? This statement from Gulak corroborates with that of a former PDP chairman who boasted that PDP will rule Nigeria for 60years, that means after their own demise their offspring are already programmed to take over from them. PDP, a party of rogue politicians and APC a party of rebels! Okay o!

It is your kind of mentality that makes them too strong. Just go in your voting booth and vote against PDP. Simple as that.

this is a lie from the pit of hell. the only advantage pdp have over even unborn parties is the use of state resources to sponsor their criminal activities. if any other party has that much money to buy over jega or even create room for the same level playing grounds for all, i can bet with my life that pdp cannot win more than 15% in the country.
did u observe the situation in Imo state? the then gov organised the normal pdp free and fair election where 300 councellorship wards in the state and 27 local govt area chairmen were all pdp only for an apga gov to emerge just because the masses with the special supervision of Reverend fathers were on ground to make things happen. what dominance are u talking about and how many normal nigerians will vote pdp on a good day?
if the time is ripe in God's eyes, nothing will keep pdp beyond 2015.

@take_dat, koruji and 1025, I'm not a fan of PDP but looking at the situation of things, you will see that other political parties including newly formed APC are not any better.

What on earth makes you guys had any hope in a political party that's seeking its members from already corrupted PDP. Our problem will never come to an end even if PDP is voted out in 2015. The fact is that, corruption is everywhere even among politicians in the other parties. Secondly,we spend too much on government these days, for instance, there are some ministries, advisers and agencies that need to be scrap.

Also, Nigeria should stop allocating money to the senators and reps, rather, this money should be directed to local govt councils. Infact they should be paying sitting allowance. So APC or PDP, our political structure cannot pave way for development.

Nigeria is truly dead. Imagine what would happen if this sort of statement was made by a politician in a country with proper democracy.

This only shows that these guys will do whatever it takes to hold on to power

Gulak, be careful what you wish for. Sycophancy will not save you when that which you wish for comes knocking. What PDP has is 1% of what Abacha had, where is Abacha
