The Federal Government has approved the rehabilitation of all federal and state universities in the country. The Vice-President, Arc. Muhammed Namadi Sambo, GCON, disclosed this on Friday 24 May, 2013, at the combined public presentation of the 2012 Federal Ministry of Education (FME), Annual Report, 1st National Education Innovations Exhibition Report and the Report of the 3rd National Conference on Public Examinations, organised by the Ministry.

He said the approval was granted by the President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, on Thursday 23 May, 2013, following the recommendation of the National Economic Council, in order to address the challenges of infrastructural decay in public universities.
