This is definitely a great news for the people of Calabar, all the GEJ references are just ignorant and grasping at the straw.

Did you close your eyes while reading the original post or what? The post stated that

awodman: Following its announcement last year that it intends to
invest $1 billion in Nigeria, General Electric (GE) has scheduled the groundbreaking for its $250 million manufacturing and assembly plant for Tuesday in Calabar
.

When did last year equate 2009 or 2006 as you are trying hard to claim? Instead of running amok and foaming at the mouth over nothing, ask yourself why Obasanjo lamented and decried the reversal of most of the economic policies he instituted by late President Yar'adua ...

Lol, very funny, but if the haterade is strong enough, it's somehow possible to make 2012 seam like 2009, God forbid evil people!

1. Yaradua signed this infrastructure agreement with GE and this project in calabar transpired became of that agreement and it has nothing to do with GEJ.

2. Good example, OBJ awarded many energy contracts with GE to build 18 turbines for different power stations in Nigeria, but sambo commissioned the one in sapele, so who gets the credit? Sambo or OBJ.

I know you people are grasping for anything to attache to this incompetent man called Gej whose best vision remains the cassava bread idea he stole from OBJ, but it won't work. The man is a born dullard. He's been in politics for a king time and he was once a governor , but even as a governor, he did not build one single hen gave, he left no ideas or vision for bayelsa and the cronies he left in charge are just incompetent clowns and.comedians and their best achievement to date is trying to catch rumor mongers.....

You are.free to tie yourself to his Halloween costume, but you can't and shouldn't expect others to do same.

There are two options to choose, eko lie and his Lappy crew or GE who is bringing their $250 m into the country run by GEJ, whose verdict should I choose from?
One of the complaints held against the Nigerian system by international investors was the lack of continuity by governance, here we have government who is see through plans initiated by his successors and you don't think it's commendable?

Lets assume that GEJ is running down this country as you have us believe, do you think that GE would still bring their $250m to nigeria because they signed an agreement with OBJ in 1900 ? For our information the environment GEJ has created is responsible for foreign investors coming into all or any parts of the country including Lagos.

You dey mind am? Was it not as recently as Obasanjo dispensation that Textile companies, Michelin, Dunlop etc were closing shops to relocate to neighbouring Ghana? Now that with sound economic management and heavy investment in infrastructure they can see prospects and are coming back, he will still be here scampering from all over the thread trying to derail it.

I think u guys should ignore that liar, the issue is that credit should be given to this present govt for trying in some areas like massive investments in the power infrastructure and strides being taken by the ministry of trade and investments in attracting foreign investors to the country. personally I think those two areas I mentioned are areas that are strategic to future economic development of Nigeria because oil our main source of foreign exchange earner will be no more, and infrastructure and investment will be the foundation for our future earnings as a country.

Sigh! Here we go again, please, try and read up on "Yar’Adua, Obasanjo and Power Sector" by Segun Adeniyi to help your ignorance.

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/yar-adua-obasanjo-and-power-sector/94606/

GE's role then was merely to ship turbines to designated ports in Nigeria and which was fulfilled. In the words of Mr. John Rice, then the Vice Chairman of General Electric (GE) and CEO in charge of Infrastructure, who visited Nigeria in 2007, GE had fulfilled its mandate by shipping in the huge turbines and accessories which were then lying uncollected at the ports".

The original post stated that General Electric (GE) has scheduled the groundbreaking for its $250million manufacturing and assembly plant for Tuesday in Calabar

Does the infrastructure agreement with GE by Yar'adua and awarding of energy contacts by Obasanjo you ignorantly talked about amounted to GROUNDBREAKING of manufacturing plants as stated by the OP

I don't want to believe you're having comprehension problem here bro ...

You guys should stop arguing with all these ACN goons. They have nothing but disdain for any progress made outside of Lagos. I totally understand their feelings. Lagos had been the only toast of the nation for so long. Then Abuja came along and started making Lagos look like a shithole. Now you want small boys like Calabar,Uyo, Warri, Benin, Enugu and Owerri and the likes to do exactly what Abuja did to Lagos?? Afterall Lagos was built on the intelligence and versatility of people from these upcoming cities.

You are free to confuse and mislead yourself till you turn blue, I don't care...

Facts...

1. GE wasn't brought to Nigeria by GEJ and the OBJ example was to highlight the fact that OBJ awarded power contracts worth billions to GE and Sambo commissioned one of them. The fact that Sambo commissioned doesn't mean the credit goes to Sambo, that credit goes to OBJ.

2. Yaradua signed the agreement with GE to invest in Nigeria and build infrastructure in Nigeria and GE honored that agreement during GEJ's regime, but fact remains that the idea, work and vision which made it happened based on that infrastructure agreement came from Yaradua and not GEJ. GE is setting up that infrastructure in Calabar because of the infrastructure agreement signed by Yaradua to do so also based on whatever concessions Yaradua offered GE to lock in the agreement..

3. Anybody fit carry shovel to do ground breaking, but it doesn't mean your idea and vision made it happen. Jonathan is basically reaping from the seeds sown by Yaradua.

As the President of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007, Obasanjo promoted a 10 percent cassava inclusion policy in wheat bread in an effort to promote agricultural growth and diversify the economy.

The policy, backed by improved agricultural practices from IITA and national partners, increased cassava production in Nigeria by 10 million tons within 6 years, making Nigeria the world’s top producer of cassava.
