Jonathan Congratulates Kano Emir On Attaining 50 Years On The Throne by Nobody: 10:39am On Jun 16, 2013
The President congratulated the Emir in Kano at the launching of a book entitled: 'KIFAYU DHUA'AFA AL SUDAN', written by Abdullahi Gwandu, as part of activities commemorating Mr. Bayero's 50th anniversary on the throne.
Represented by the Minister ofTransport, Idris Umar, Mr. Jonathan lauded the Emir for his `immense' contributions to peace and development of the society. He also applauded the contributions of the Emirate in the spread of Islamic knowledge across the country.
"The Emir deserves to be congratulated for attaining 50 years on the throne and attaining the age of 83," Mr. Jonathan said.
He urged other traditional rulers in the country to emulate the Emir of Kano in order to leave behind lasting legacies. He promised that the Federal Government would partner with traditional institution for the developmentof the society.
In his remarks, Governor Rabi'u Kwankwaso of Kano State congratulated the Emir and the Emirate Council on the Emir's golden jubilee on the throne. He expressed appreciation to the Emir for hisfatherly role which, he said, had contributed to the development of the state and the nation.
Mr. Kwankwaso also pledged that his administration would work with traditional rulers in the state for the sustenance of peace.
A former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who described the emir as 'a living symbol of integrity,' praised the monarchfor his role in ensuring peaceful co-existence in the country.
He also lauded the emir for hispatience, steadfastness and selfless service to the people.
The Federal Government bought a copy of the book for N12 million, the former Vice President Abubakar bought one for N25 million, while Kano State Government purchased for N10 million.
