The Kebbi Governor, Alhaji Saidu Dakingari, on Monday urged Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) to replace the obsolete 330KVA power supply tower in the state to prevent its collapse.
A statement by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Mu'azu, in Birnin Kebbi, said the governor gave the advice during a visit to the collapsed 330KVA tower in Maiyama Local Government Area.
The governor urged PHCN to conduct a surveillance of the tower, which collapsed following a windstorm and resulted in a cut of electricity supply to Kebbi and Sokoto for three weeks.
He called for the replacement of the tower, which life-span had expired, having been installed more than 40 years ago.
