Do you guys remember Dekunle Fuji of "lelelelele, mo like Jesu gan, mo nife Jesu gan..." that beautiful gospel fuji song. Well, in the search for greener pastures, the popular Nigerian gospel fuji musician, Dekunle Fuji is now a certified nurse in the US.

The former Storm Records artiste who several years ago was a toast in the gospel scene is now based in the US State of New Jersey where he went through a nursing course to become a qualified nurse.

The former artiste had left Nigeria for a show in the US in 2011. Getting to the US, Dekunle began considering the thought of settling down in the States. In no time he quickly applied for a nursing course and finished with the course a few months ago.

Prior to his sojourn in the US, the musician (although does not like to be referred to as a gospel artiste) had joined the Nigerian Police Force even before moving to the US.

‘Dekunle had joined the police force where he was appointed a senior officer because of his qualification. It just so happened that his travelling came through just about the same time the Police force had employed him’, the source said.

We also discover that in the US, the musician turned nurse is still taking up shows in churches and crusades where he gets paid up to about $5000 (N790000) per performance....

Hallelujah..! That guy really needs a second job, his performance @ the Xperience some years back ranks among the most useless live performance I've ever seen in my life. He also wanted to do an album lunch, all the artists he invited failed to show up, he also ended up running away @ the last minute.

Thank God for his life. But he's a confused fellow o. From police to musician and now, nurse. Dis yeye country just dey push boys dey try anything wey go bring money. They release one or two crappy songs and they just sit back and wait for shows. KAS is another good example. They are entertainers and not musicians. Anyway, e beta than make dem dey steal. I wish them all the best.

He'll be making more money fron being a Nurse than sticking to music. Not everyone was born to be a musician. It's a shame that people just want to be musicians by force even when they see that nothing is coming out from it. Instead of them to be buying tubers of yam from the North and selling in Lagos, they're wasting their time with Music.

That's why I hate 'fame' with a passion. I'd take the fortune over fame any day. I'd rather be worth $10m as a reclusive, "unknown" millionaire than be worth $100m as a public figure. Nothing beats joyful anonymity.

It's even worse when the fortune disappears. . .leaving poor old and useless fame behind.

He is still making money from music (gospel performances) but the sharp guy just provided "insurance and pension" for himself!

That is the advantage of education. At least he has something to fall back on. This is the advice for those who want to be Wizkid or Taiye Tawio of this world please embrace education first, then every other things may follow.
