I am currently an academic staff in a state polytechnic but i want to apply for this Federal University of Petroleum in warri.

I accepted to be in the academic world due to the fact that, there was no other offer coming then. And academic job is not what i wanted in the first place but my father just want me to be in the academic profession which i did not want.

Although, i had the intention of leaving the profession for something else later.

The question is, is it advisable to leave academic for non-academic position? and what are the benefits of being a non-academic staff?

My plan is, if i apply to FUPRE and i eventually get the job, i will leave academic for non-academic, but your advises are still needed.

My fellow Nairalanders, please your candid advice or opinion would be appreciated.
