What we leave behind Thump, thump Like foot soldiers moving through the ranks Fighting for a cause, moving through the ranks Bump, bump, and now strike one, strike two Man down, man down Pummel, pummel some more Oh yeah this one’s down and out Struck not by the hand of the foe Twas a fellow fellow soldier Tis my brethren and yours Tongue lashing, well crafted words Just like the arrows that fill the warriors quiver Should it be, should it be That we’ll use our words to beat ourselves down Christian soldier Look there’s a man down, and he’s not your enemy No don’t strike, he’s been struck too many times already And no don’t turn away too I know you’re a soldier, but show some heart, let Christ’s love pour through This one’s a battle like no other It’s for binding up the wounded Strengthening broken reeds and fortifying tottering fences Strengthen the weak knees and lift up the hands that hang down Lord move this army through parched and dry lands And as we march through, let us not destroy Let seeds of love be sown, and so much grace be shown Rain down Your mercy And let lush verdant pastures Beautiful and refreshing be what our march leaves behind on a long ago parched land |
