NIPSS Decries Poor Contribution Of Political Parties To Democracy by Nobody: 5:49pm On Jun 26, 2013
National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Jos Plateau State has decried the meagre contribution of political parties to democracy in Nigeria, adding that the parties lack organisation capabilities to bring citizens together for any meaningful political participation.

Director General of NIPSS, Professor Tijani Muhammed-Bande, who noted this during the inauguration of a Conference on Political Parties and Democracy, and the commissioning of Political Parties Leadership and Policy Development Centre, funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), added that “the ability of political parties to deepen democracy depends on their ability to organize themselves and do what they should do, but here in the country political parties have not created much political consciousness.”
