The Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, has said a revolution is due in Nigeria because of endemic corruption in the country, coupled with the general disaffection of the people with the ruling elite.

He said the kind of conditions that must subsist in order for any talk of revolution to be taken seriously were widely evident.

Tambuwal stated these in Lagos on Tuesday at the 2013 Distinguished Management Lecture of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered). The occasion had the theme, ‘The role of the legislature on the economic, infrastructural and ethical revolution in Nigeria’, where he was invited as a guest speaker.

He said, “The most compelling reasons for revolution throughout the ages were injustice, crushing poverty, marginalisation, rampant corruption, lawlessness, joblessness, and general disaffection with the ruling elite. You will agree with me that these describe conditions in our nation now, to a very large degree.”

Tambuwal, who was represented by the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Budget and Research, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, said over the years, successive governments made efforts to deal with this menace, but to no avail.

“That these conditions exist is well known to all persons in authority but the results of these successive efforts have failed to yield the desired results. This therefore is the justification for the radical change from the present approach to a revolutionary one,” he stressed.

Tambuwal is the speaker of the house, he was smuggled in as speaker by the opposition with the hope that they can use him to effect some changes, what has he done since assuming that office to bring about real change. The reps are still looting constituency votes, Farouk is still among them, their egos still come ahead of the common good of the citizens.

Tambuwal has learnt something about us, if you want to be popular among the masses, simply scream "There is too much corruption in the land" with that your approval rating will sky rocket, you will be called a progressive, your looting will be ignored.

Tambuwal there is no revolution that will come today that will leave the man in the number 4 position today in Nigeria unaffected.

Thank you, I couldn't have said it better. These people know that Nigerians have short memories and they take a free-ride to insult people's intelligence.

The rogue was a principal officer of the house during Bankole's tenure and was part of the collective decision to borrow from the Bank to finance the illegal increase in their salary and allowances which they hoped to smuggle into the following year's budget. So sweet of him to be talking of corruption and revolution!

What Nigeria needs is a return to fiscal federalism, remove the useless federal government from our states and dissolve the local governments, half of our problems will be solved overnight.

Very true, but unfortunately it is coming from an elite himself who is benefitting from the same corrupt system he's talking about.

This Tambuwal is making a caricature of himself! Shooting himself at the Leg. A government in which he occupyies a key position and he still critcizes it. Tambuwal better resign as a speaker if he is truely a man of his word. Because if Revolution starts today, he will not be spared. TAMBUWAL RESIGN AND PROTECT YOUR INTERGRITY IF U THINK,YOUR THE MAN TO BE RECKON WITH IN NIGERIA.

CROWÉ: What Nigeria needs is a return to fiscal federalism, remove the useless federal government from our states and dissolve the local governments, half of our problems will be solved overnight.

This is true but the federal government , as constituted today, is a fraudulent arrangement that exist to frustrate any effort at achieving fiscal/true federalism. Overriding conditions must always favour the sharing of the Nations commonwealth by a few and this is what GEJ is there for. Same as Yar Adua and OBJ before him.

When a President told directly to stop theft against Nigeria prefers to obsess over how he can discredit the messenger of that recommendation then we do not need a rocket scientist to tell us that said President is a member of the gang robbing the nation. We can never attain fiscal/true federalism under those who were chosen, because of their patent lack of principle and devotion to corruption, to assist the looting of Nigeria by a few.

That man and the man am quoting are unrepentant criminals, we need to do something fast before this thieves sell lagosians. Oya those that see donchris in their dreams can start attacking me as usual. The jagajaga of lagos is the most corrupt man africa has ever produced. Lol! IBB must be happy that someone has surpassed him. Looting lagos state government isnt enough for jagajaga he now loots market men and women. Next will be looting thugs in motor park.

As long as we keep ourselves in the dark by simply not keeping up with history, we'll keepp on being used as pawns by the master chess players.

Tambuwal is not the messiah and not a revolutionary.

We need a revolution. We've always known that. People that we are going to hit hard with it is Tambuwal himself.
He is pretending he is for the masses but we know where he belongs -- he is against us.

You can't talk of revolution when u are neck deep in d same corrupt system tat u have and are still benefing from. We all know tat revolutn is all tat is required 2 put us back on track, and when it happened ur likes will not be left out. U talk about corruption, what have u done 2 arrest it in d lower house? And 4 those screaming fiscal federalism, u have no idea about its adverse effect when impunity nd corruptn have not yet been dealt wit among state govt. Even wit d 13% derivation, we are all aware at d level of wastage among most of d Governors from d ss. If we are serious about it, we can take a queue from d egyptians nd demand a change.

Tambuwal!Tambuwal!!Tamuwal!!! How many times did i call you. You were Deputy Majority leader for 4yrs. You've been speaker for 2 yrs now what have you done about it? If there is anyone that can expose corrupt practices backed up with real facts and figures is you because you oversee the passage and implementation of the National budget. So tell me what have you done? Attending parties and ceremonies with Tinubu and come to call GEJ corrupt. You are really a big fool.

Re: Nigeria Is Due For A REVOLUTION - TAMBUWAL by Nobody: 12:41pm On Jul 03, 2013
I am up for the revolution!

Provided that Tambuwal will lead it.
Tambuwal should first cut down the salaries of the house of Rep Members, after all he is the Speaker.
If he can't do that while he has the power, then he should just keep quiet and enjoy his own loot.

I am sure the man is using style to campaign already. His name has come up as a possible anointed Northern Candidate.

excuse me please!

"Emm, Ebuka, did you listen to Radio Biafra last night?"

Does this Tambuwal of a guy think we'll spare him when the time comes? SMH.
As it is now, a better Nigeria is almost impossible without revolution. Let the civilian masses start a revolution today and see if the armed forces will not join in support. By then, their few subjects shall not be able to defend them. angry

You quoted his comment and then said something completely unrelated. FYI Lagos is developing at a blistering pace. I'd rather have Tinubu and friends in Aso Rock than PDP. There are two kinds of criminals, you can steal and steal or you can steal and develop. Tinubu, Fashola and Buhari at least talk about removing power from the federal level and giving it to the states, we dunno if they will actually do it but we do know that PDP will not so they MUST go!!!
