It will intrest you to know that more than half of the Abacha loot has not been recovered. Report has it that as much as $10 billion are still hiding in foreign bank account.
Nigeria has a lot of smart people. Unfortunately some are just smart for the wrong reasons.
Imagine if Abacha were still alive, would all these massive loot have been discovered? By the way let's not forget the big man himself his Excellency Mr Corruption Ibrahim Babangida. People may wonder why this guy is not investigated and put behind bars. Well the guy simply knew how to cover his tracts. As the longest serving military leader for nine years only God knows how much he stole while in office. The fact that he even step down immediately after June 12 reinforced the fact that he must have stolen more than enough.
For Abacha, if not for his untimely death would have bought the continent of Africa from his loot.
It's so unfortunate that leadership in Nigeria has become a synonymous with corruption and looting. Imagine what $10 billion would do if invested in the electricity sector. Imagine if those monies where invested in Agriculture. Imagine what will happen if these funds were sinked into the education sector. No one knows how to steal better than the Japanese . But wait. The Japanese only steal for their country. They have stolen technology from the west. Today Japan has a very high standard of living. Instead of the Smart Nigerian ones to go out and steal valuable information and technology to better the lives of our people, they're busy stealing from their own country men and women. Imagine if Abacha used his special skill to steal technology and investment from the west! Nigeria would have been developed by now.
It's time our leaders borrow the skills of Abacha and steal Technology, wealth and information from the west to Nigeria. Let us learn the Japanese and Korean example.

Are you sure it's $16 billion? Don't be deceived by the media. The government may have claim to spend that amount on the power sector from 1999 to date, but friend, what was really spend was far more less than $6 billion dollars in actual amount. You have no idea of the massive corruption in the power sector in Nigeria.

like i always say objectivity. Abacha was a looter and a hard man, but during his time, puting sentiments aside, how was the economic growth and development the nation? What was our international standings? how was the quality of life of the average nigerian? These are the questions to ask urselves. No nigerian leader has done anything tangible after him, they all looted money, opened biznesses for demselves and left us poverty. so ...... enlighten me.

Have you asked Jona and Allyson Maduekwe how much they've stolen from coffer of NNPC so far? Also asked them why have they been awarding oil contracts to companies who have no track record or companies who happened just opened for business. Allyson has been opening companies with no employees in order to award contracts to those companies on behalf of Jona. Abacha did exactly the same thing.
