Did you care to read the statement issued by Tinubu's media guy? May be I should help u: "Tinubu has the right to ENDORSE while the endorsement does not stop anyone who still wants to compete with the incumbent to go ahead''

I know let wait and see how it goes. When he endorse Fashola against all odd all the know names then i.e Afikuyomi, Mamora were frustrate/given soft-landing. Let see how Opeyemi Bamidele will end when the Jagaban of ACN has spoken.

So whats wrong in Tinubu endorsing Fayemi?

Where in the world does it not happen?

John Edwards and Collin Powell endorsed Obama, Bill Clinton endorsed Hilary Clinton, John McCain endorsed Romney etc
Re: No Apologies For Endorsing Fayemi - Tinubu by Shine1177: 6:46pm On Jul 08, 2013
The Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Budget and Research, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, has said his determination to contest the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State was unstoppable.

Bamidele spoke in Ado Ekiti on Saturday while addressing his supporters who are members of the Action Congress of Nigeria.

Surprisingly, some members of the Peoples Democratic Party were seen at the event which was held along Basiri Road. The event was held under the platform of ‘Ekiti Bibire Coalition.’

Leaders of the ACN including Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, had on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti, endorsed Governor Kayode Fayemi for second term.

Tinubu had asked Bamidele to drop his ambition saying the right time would come for him to contest but the lawmaker insisted that nothing could stop him from contesting the poll.

He said, “It started as a rumour, they were saying it in market places, inside taxi cabs and everywhere. Everybody was saying it but I waited to hear from God. As a child of God, I can’t be afraid. I listened to the voice of God through all of you. I will contest (governorship election) and I will not regret my decision. I know the implication of what I have said.

“I won’t come out in my name but I will come out in the name of the Father, in the name of the Son and the Holy Ghost. I won’t encourage violence but nobody should harass my people.

“If two siblings are contesting, it will be different from the way two outsiders would contest. I have made known my intention and I won’t renege on it. I won’t drop the name of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and let nobody drop his name. Those doing that want to cause a rift between Asiwaju and I but that won’t be possible.

“I respect people and I celebrate relationships. The Asiwaju that I know won’t do anything to undermine democracy. What was reported in newspapers was not what happened at the meeting. You can ask some of the leaders present at the meeting.

“Nobody can stop me from contesting the governorship election. I cannot fight with Asiwaju Tinubu but it is not compulsory that we should agree on everything at all times.”

The lawmaker, who is representing Ekiti Federal Constituency 1 at the House of Representatives, said he had enormous respect for Tinubu whom he served for many years.

According to him, Tinubu would be happy to see somebody like him seeking to make the state a model in the country.

He said he was invited for the reconciliatory meeting held at the Ekiti State Government House on Wednesday but he said he got the text message on Thursday night.

“I was invited for the meeting but I got the text message late. But my argument still remains that Tinubu did not endorse Fayemi at the meeting,” he added

musiwa29: compare lagos schools and ondo state school. will you sent your child to a school like this.. You want to tell me, that the military have no excuse to overthrow the govt. they do. Go all over nigeria. the set of school are bad.

if the military overthrow the govt is because politician made them to.. And not because the military were greedy.

Now how many new schools are built in Ondo State so far ?? ? Pls help state locations as you list? May be new schools in Ondo are now more than those in Lagos till date!!! I cannot wait this information piece well clarified!!!

musiwa29: What good is that endorsement to fayemi.. It will not bring fayemi vote.

Only 300 people show up at tinubu mother burial..

What good is that endorsement when people dont like tinubu. Yo can see the reason why they dont like him because of the bad state of school that he left. For 8 years he did not even repair 1 school in lagos.. only built 3.

To help you why ACN has problem for 14 years..of ACN been in lagos. ACN did not built 1 single new school in lagos.. Not even 1 new school. But the population increase. They repair less than 50 school. which were done by fashola , not tinubu.. So most people are not happy with Tinubu.. what good is that endorsement to fayemi.

It cost ondo state less than 200 million to build each school. if ACN collected. over N5 trillion for 14 years, And did not spend 200 million per school. to give you just less than 100 billion of 5 trillion. to rebuild the old school to mimiko standard.. But they never did for 14 years.. why do you expect the people to be happy with tinubu.. because tinubu failed in lagos..

If your child is one of this children, will you like tinubu.. the answer is no. will you vote tinubu, the answer is NO. why because your child is sitting on the floor.

You have lost moral in Nigeria. I weep for lagos and lagos children.. awolowo will commit suicide, if he saw children sitting on the floor.

The politics of EKiti guber race between MOB and ATB/DKF starts here on a too funny note.
Anyway,FYI only DKY is contesting against others and ATB is not one of the opposing candidates. ATB is a leader of repute and successful already in Nigerian politics. I refer you statistics of developments across the southwest if you do not know. DKF at mid-term completed 100 of 180 schools in his operation renovate all schools in Ekiti!!!
It is my pleasure to inform you authoritively that DOM in his first term didnot complete 10 schools in his mega schools and schools renovation combined altogether.
Please check well and prove me wrong. I am now Ondo state as I write this.
So DKF vs DOM, who scores higher on education infrastructures

I beg no 'ojoroooo'!!!!!!!!!

The Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Budget and Research, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, says he may leave the ruling Action Congress of Nigeria in Ekiti State to contest against Governor Kayode Fayemi in the 2014 governorship poll in the state.

In a statement on Sunday, the lawmaker said he was ready to leave the party if that was the only way he could realise his ambition.

Bamidele added that he was not only determined to participate in the election but was confident to oust Fayemi from the Government House.

The lawmaker was, however, silent on which party’s platform he is likely to contest.

Bamidele, a former Commissioner for Information in Lagos State, who alleged that some persons were trying to cause a strain in his relationship with former Governor Bola Tinubu, noted that the attempt would fail.

He said, “I am stating unequivocally that by the grace of God and the encouragement of the well meaning people of Ekiti State I, Opeyemi Bamidele, will be contesting election to be governor of Ekiti State in 2014. It is an irrevocable conclusion based on popular yearnings as well as my personal conviction and commitment to human capital development and the creation of a new and united Ekiti.

“The deliberate mismanagement of information of the meeting proceedings, no doubt, is in furtherance of a series of attempts to push me and my supporters out of the ACN. The purveyors of the information have forgotten that even if they had succeeded in doing that, it still would not deter me from pursuing my vision and ambition on other progressive party platforms based on divine guidance and the leading of Ekiti stakeholders home and abroad.”

Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN)
has reaffirmed his commitment to ensure that all
public schools in Lagos State are restored to
compete and exceed standards obtainable in private
schools.
The Governor gave the commitment at the Banquet
Hall of the Lagos House, Ikeja while speaking at the
official launch of Eko Corps Exercise Books which is
a collaborative effort of the Lagos Internal Revenue
Service (LIRS), Lagos Signage and Advertising
Agency (LASAA), Lagos State Waste Management
Authority (LAWMA), Lagos State Traffic
Management Authority (LASTMA), and Lagos State
Water Corporation.
With sustained investments in the education sector
over the past four years ranging from building of
new classrooms, massive rehabilitation, renovation
and equipping of schools as well as training and re-
training of teachers, the results are beginning to
show positively
He added that towards revitalizing education, the
government has also gone back to the basics by
re-introducing programmes like Schools Debates
and voluntary associations just as new programmes
like Spelling Bees and One Day Governor have also
evolved as some of the means by which old
standards in public schools are being recreated.
He said as part of the new confidence by the
public, the enrolment figures being recorded in
public schools is decimating those of private
schools because they are becoming destination of
choice.
The Governor who denounced the argument that
public schools are in bad shape noted that the
isolated pictures that are fed to the public atimes
about the state of some public schools does not
represent the face of public education in the state.
The State Governor said just as the administration
has constructed about 5,000 new classrooms, it has
also just granted an approval for the renovation of
176 public schools in the state as a part of a
continuous process to continue to invest and be
innovative about education in the state.
He gave a commitment that just as there are roads
to be fixed and schools to be rehabilitated what the
average resident should have in mind is that if the
administration has not reached them, it is still on
the way.
The Governor stressed that what is needed currently
is an amalgamation of partnerships rather than
complaints and condemnation of its activities
adding that teachers have also been trained and
retrained even during the just concluded vacation.
He argued that though the exercise books come
without a charge to the pupils, they are however
not free because they were indeed paid for by some
people through taxes, adding that government is
seeking to take from those who are privileged to
take care of the less privileged in the society.
Governor Fashola affirmed that though the steps
may not be enough largely because the population
of the State is growing in leaps and bounds and
always attracting people from different locations
who relocate to Lagos to eke out a living and enjoy
services not available where they were coming
from.
He said kudos must be given to governments which
have returned some public schools to their former
owners as the step has assisted in reducing the
burden of governments which took on more than it
could sustain and affected the output.
Governor Fashola stated that the re-invention and
restoration of education is a journey which everyone
must be ready to get on board, stating that
government requires enormous resources to do
more.
The Governor said he directed that the programme
should take place at the Lagos House, Alausa
because he wanted the students who are the
beneficiaries of the exercise books to have a feel of
what those saddled with political power do on a day
to day basis.
He added that through this means they would be
able to know how roads are constructed, how
schools are built and how programmes are
implemented adding that the Nigerian society is
long disconnected with how government runs.
Governor Fashola affirmed that if students do not
excel in examinations which would be preparatory
to preparing them for the larger world, there is no
way the country can prosper.
He said nothing is wrong with Nigerians as a
people but that if the country and its leaders
commit themselves to discipline and restraint,
everything is possible.
While responding to some of the questions posed
by some school pupils who were present at the
event, the Governor said he will always defend
public officials serving the state so long as they do
that within the confines of the law, adding that the
recent case of an official of the Kick Against
Indiscipline (KAI) who was stabbed and lost an eye
while on official duty is very condemnable.
On the issue of LASTMA and extortion, Governor
Fashola said the outfit is a local solution to deal
with a global phenomenon in Lagos, saying while
some of the operatives might not be courteous and
civil, they do not represent the majority.
The Governor who also cautioned about the
incessant usage of strike actions to settle industrial
disputes said for example when teachers go on
strike, the studies of students are disrupted just as
strike actions affect the economy and productivity,
adding: “some people do not even have jobs. It is
hurting all of us. The earlier, we all return to
productivity the better”.
Speaking earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor
on Revenue and Taxation, Mr Abimbola Shodipo
said the branded exercise books which is to be
distributed to public schools is an additional effort
by the administration of Governor Fashola to make
education more impactful in the state.
He added that the state of schools have improved
tremendously such that that the mass failure that
was the feature of students sitting for public
examinations is now gone.
A presentation of Eko Corps Exercise books was
made to winners of the Tax Essay competition
namely Ademola Fasanya, Idi- Araba Junior High
School, Faith Izegbu St Jude’s Private School and
Amen Joseph of Ogba Junior Grammar School in
the junior category and Margaret Babatunde, Vivian
Fowler Memorial College, Munirat Ojotu, Command
Day Secondary School and Raphael Chinwuko from
Topgrade Secondary School in the senior secondary
category by the Governor.
Notable among those who witnessed the ceremony
were the Deputy Governor, Princess Adejoke
Orelope-Adefulire, members of the State Executive
Council and top executives of the agencies
representing the six organizations that provided the
branded exercise books and school pupils.

Sir, you are a worthy example of good governance is
possible in Nigeria - this you have shown in almost all
the key sectors in Lagos. It is possble you are already
doing this suggestion of mine. That is to sponsor project
(s) in the University (e.g. LASU) where final year students
in collaboration with their lecturers can come up with
solutions to any area of challenge facing Lagos or
Nigeria, e.g design and manufacture of locally built wind
power; harnessing ocean wave energy to generate
electricity - design and manufacture, A study to profer
solution on improvement of environmental sanitation by
Lagosions without enforcement from government, etc. If
any project is proved to be successful then there can be
patnership with government ministries and private sectors
for implementation. This is one of the ways developed
nations is making progress in Research and Development
and technological advancement.
