Suspected robbers struck yesterday in a hotel at Ajah in Lagos killing four staff members of the hotel including the owner, simply identified as Lanre. The incident which occured at the popular “O” Hotel, on Berger road promptly created confusion in the neighbourhood.

According to eyewitness account, the rampaging robbers also set ablaze vehicles parked inside the premises of the hotel by lodgers. It was further gathered that some people sustained injuries during tha attack. Daily Sun gathered that the robbers numbering about eight armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the hotel on revenge mission.

It was gathered that few weeks ago, men of the State Anti Robbery Squad (SARS)on a tip off that some robbers were lodging in the hotel, raided the place and arrested two members of the gang including its leader.

The arrest, it was gathered did not go down well with the other members of the gang who suspected the owner of the hotel and his staffers as the whistle blowers.

Consequently, it stormed the place killing the owner and three members of staff. It was gathered that the hoodlums practically held the hotel hostage during the raid. Daily Sun gathered that after a gun battle with the police, one of the robbers was found dead while some of them escaped with bullets wound. An Ak47 belonging to the gang was also recovered at the scene.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Ngozi Braide said: “When our men got a distress call that robbers who pretended to be lodgers in the hotel were wreaking havoc, they raced to the scene and during a fierce gun duel, one of the robbers was shot dead, others escaped . We also recovered one AK47 rifle at the scene”.

Braide said the state Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, has ordered men of the state SARS to fish out the hoodlums and that they would soon be arrested.

She urged the hospitals and medical practitioners in the state to report to the police any person with bullet wound, who comes seeking their assistance. READ MORE: http://www.sunnewsonline.com/new/national/robbers-kill-hotelier-3-others-in-ajah/

No wonder Nigerians abroad dont look forward to going home, without some trepidation.

Life has become meaningless in Nigeria whist politicians are busy looting more and more in order to oppress the electorate who are sheepish enough to continue voting in the same people who impoverish them and make their lives miserable.

Until and unless there is a re-examination of the essence on the Nigerian conglomerate, there can be no progress in that place. It seems to be doomed and god-forsaken. Whilst other nations with less resources are blossoming, the entity called Nigeria is moving in reverse gear and being over-taken.

On my last visit to Nigeria, I spoke with another traveller from somewhere in America and he said "this is my penultimate trip to this god-forsaken place. The final trip is when my mum dies and we have to bury her". Such sentiments, while sounding negative are understandable in the light of everyday life in Nigeria. INSECURTY, DARKNESS, DEATH TRAPS AS ROADS, CORRUPT CULTURE ETC

wake up frm this random thinking , you are painting a picture of utopia here, as if America and Britain are heaven on earth. pls read the entire story again, the hotelier rat on suspected robbers, and in the last part of the story the police promised to fish the rest of them out after one robber was killed in a gun battle.
what else do you want, crime happ. yesterday, today and crime will continue to happen till tomm.
we need a system to nip it in the bud, that,s all.
rip to the dead, may GOD almighty grant them heaven.
