|Revealed!!: Common Dangers Of Modeling.....wow!!! by GLeesMODEL(m): 9:01pm On Jul 14, 2013|
....Modeling is a profession where your looks determines your worth!!!
Like any industry, modeling has its own dangers. Some are more serious than others, but by keeping a good head on her shoulders a model can avoid most of those situations
Every job has its own dangers and scams; modeling is no different. The fact that modeling is mostly made up of pretty girls posing in front of cameras and wanting to hit the big time makes most of the dangers in the industry special to it.
Dangers Models Pose to Themselves:
One danger that every model faces is the damage they can do to themselves. With the drive to have the perfect body, some models try extreme methods to lose weight and stay skinny. Most of these methods are dangerous and extreme because they cause a lot of harm to the model.
One of those dangerous methods is when a model starves herself to be thin. This is unhealthy and dangerous for both body and mind and is not advised in the least bit. A good body is completely possible without starving or throwing up everything eaten. Likewise, some models turn to drugs and pills to stay thing, or keep up with the industry. Again these cause nothing but trouble for both body and mind, destroying both beyond repair, and often leading to addiction.
Someone Finding Out:
Another danger some models face is someone finding out what they are doing. For those women modeling solely in the fashion and commercial genres of the industry this doesn't pose much of a threat. But those women who work in other genres of modeling, such as nude or lingerie, can sometimes find themselves in a heap of trouble from others finding the photos. It can cause problems at work, and sometimes prevent a woman from continuing with certain careers. It can cause problems between significant others as well as family.
It is important to remember, no matter the genre of modeling, that photos are there forever. If a model is comfortable with nude modeling, for example, she better be comfortable with the fact that years down the road those photos can resurface. Likewise, it is important to remember that photos (regardless of if they started out on the Internet or not), can easily be spread throughout the world wide web. Meaning anyone can see them.
GWC (Guy with Camera):
GWC is a term used to describe one type of photographer a model might come across. It stands for, "Guy with Camera," and is exactly what is sounds like. Often GWCs are not professional photographers, they are simply guys who own cameras and set up shoots with models because they want pictures of pretty girls. For obvious reasons they like to set up shoots with nude and lingerie models, but regardless of the genre a model works in; they will often attempt to get the model to take off her clothes. Of course like anywhere in the world there are the dangerous perverts who want a little more than a photo, but for the most part they take photos of girls just to have photos of girls.
Some GWCs will have portfolios; others will never let those photos leave their possession. Most GWCs are willing to pay a model for her to model for him. For some nude, and other genre, models the idea of modeling for a GWC to get photos in exchange for pay, isn't a big deal. For others, it is a very big deal. A common hangout of GWCs is Craigslist. It is up to a model to decide if it is worth the money, but she must remember there are dangerous people out there.
Escorts Or Companion:
Some models desire to have an escort go to shoots with them. This can be anyone from a friend to a significant other. The idea is that the escort is there just in case the model needs protection. However, many photographers do not allow models to bring escorts. Partly because they often get in the way, but also because there are many cases where escorts have stolen equipment or jealous boyfriends have attacked photographers for taking photos of their girlfriend. Escorts, if desired, need to be discussed before a shoot.
Another problem some models face is stolen photos. Sometimes a model will discover that a stranger has stolen some of their photos and is pretending to be them on other sites, such as Facebook. In other, more extreme, cases the type of person stealing the photos is the problem. There have been many situations where escorts and prostitutes steal a model's photos and then pretend to be her. They might post the photos under their ad in Craig's List or in a newspaper. The customer thinks they are getting the model, when really they are getting the stranger. Meanwhile, everyone who sees the add believes the model is the person posting the ad.
A serious, and sadly common, danger of modeling is the scams that pop up. Often these are disguised as what seems to be a very high paying job. These, "jobs," are sent to new models who are unaware of the scams, and promise to pay large sums of money for the model to do a shoot. Sometimes they want to model to go somewhere, sometimes they want the model to pay a fee first.
A model might only be demanded to pay a fee only before a job if she does not have an agency especially for jobs that have a special clause of agency membership. it is usually wise to have your modeling agency initiate or negotiate jobs for you or on your behalf. There are less chances to fall a victim of modeling scam if you are dealing with a reputable agency as a model. however, a model can still fly her career as a freelance model, that is without a registered agency. though, the danger as a freelance model is high risk of scam. there are still cases where some modeling agencies keep a model without a single job for months after registering with them. Model personal is obtainable as well, where a model decides to operate independently but with the stranding experience of a model manager rather than an agency. Still in this perceived way out, scam cases are still inevitable except there is trust and pedigree of the model manger you engage
All types pf modeling genres are open to personal manager. Be it a commercial model, beauty queen, actor/ actress, photo shoots etc. Other times model can fall a victim, can come in more detailed form, for example; they may send the model a bad check and ask the model to send a fee to a, "makeup artist," and take that fee out of the check when they get it. The model might send the money to the makeup artist, then try to cash the check only to realize the check is bad and the money (as well as the makeup artist and photographer) have disappeared.
These are examples of scams, but they come in many shapes and sizes. A model may ask others advise if something seems like a scam, but it is often better to simply use common sense. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. If a fee is required it probably isn't real. Sadly scams are getting more detailed and better disguised, so it is hard to tell the difference at times.
