Motion without movement Outcome of bad judgement Wallowing in the land of plenty Shameful toddler at age fifty We were held hostage by a few unelected Enlightened hearts became dejected Unfortunately, the President dies After we were told many lies Then came the "doctrine of necessity" Just to reduce the political anxiety Fate danced with a man named Goodluck The political logjam he was sent to unlock The sins of our fathers could not go away As overturned election results held sway Help me, is it ''rule of law" or "law of rule"? Whatever; surely, something has to rule Power continued to suffer epilepsy Education continued to suffer leprosy Health became sick; security became weak Bombings, kidnappings almost every week Politicians are immune to the sufferings of the masses Lamido Sanusi had to disturb them in their high horses They threatened his job, called for his head He called their bluff, held high his head Election materials were stolen National jinx yet to be broken The blame game lasted for over a week The end game shows that we are very weak Zoning became the main election campaign With which true nationhood we'll never attain Nothing has changed; it is still same of the same No fresh ideas or manifestoes; oh, what a shame The elections are almost here Noise of selections everywhere Internal democracy or democracy of internal? Democracy of internal or internal democracy? Is the confusion really intentional? Do you understand it or am I going crazy? The economy worries me the most In our minds it should be the uppermost Excess crude and reserves are drained By Salaries & overheads, nothing else is gained Analysts & informed citizens are truly pained Unprecedented oil revenues Spent through many avenues Recurrent salaries and overhead We are turning logic on its head The poor are hungrier The rich are angrier Neither hardly sleeps My heart truly weeps Yet, I see a silver lining A flint of hope shinning From the hearts of patriots From the souls of compatriots That have the willpower That will never cower Until they fix our power And the ivory tower |
