Indications were rife that the military authorities may have barred Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, from further press comments over his 15 years prison experience at the Kirikiri Maximum Prison for the alleged murder of Kudirat Abiola, wife of the acclaimed winner of June 12, 1993 Presidential elections. Daily Newswatch learnt yesterday in Kano that Al-Mustapha has been warned against granting further interviews to journalists or making further comments over his release from prison.

The last time Al-Mustapha made a press comment over his detention was last week Sunday during Al-Mustapha’s thank-you-visit to Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at the Government House, shortly after regaining freedom, where he recounted his ordeal in Kirikiri Prison to the governor. However, sequel to the pronouncement by military authorities that the embattled Major is still in the military, he was said to have been cautioned to desist from further media comments until his fate is determined by the authorities.
