The most valuable Nigerian football player must be Kanu surely.

Just see what he did for Portsmouth. While every unpatriotic Nigerian football lover was busy cheering Man U in their lucky win against Chelsea, here was Kanu, a true Nigerian if there was one, doing what he has always done best, scoring the most vital goal for Poirtsmouth and giving them a major trophy after about 70 barren years.

And did Nigeria cheer? Did you even notice? Not even a whisper.

This is the same Kanu who scored the most important goal in Nigerian football history, which enabled Nigeria to win the OIympic Gold Medal against Brazil. How many gold medals doea Nigeria win in the Olympics?

Just as it will be another 100 years before Portsmouth reaches the level of winning the FA Cup again, it will be a thousand years before Nigeria wins the Olympic Gold Medal in football again.

A pity age is catching up on such a great pleyer. Nigeria will not see his like again in a long, long time.

Heroes are never recognised in their own homes. So I, being in Kenya, say to Kanu; 'HAIL THE EMPEROR'
