After receiving an additional funding of USD 10 million from Rocket Internet and the African Internet Holding Latin America’s Easy Taxi has today launched in Lagos, Nigeria.

Easy Taxi starts in Lagos, Nigeria, a city with 20 million inhabitants and huge potential with millions using internet and mobile phones then launch in more African countries in the upcoming weeks and Middle East.

Easy Taxi was founded in Brazil in 2011 and is now one of the world’s largest mobile Taxi apps. The company is active in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, South Korea and Venezuela.

Just one month ago, Easy Taxi obtained 15 USD million from the Latin America Internet Holding to up its operations.

According to Dennis Wang, Head of International Expansion of Easy Taxi, “In 2011, Easy Taxi started in Brazil to connect taxi drivers and passengers in the best possible way. By now, the app has over 1,500,000 downloads and more than 45,000 taxi drivers in the network. We want to bring this success to other attractive markets and we see high potential in many Asian and African countries.”

Easy Taxi app is available for iOS, Android and the new BlackBerry devices and helps users confirm their pickup point and order their cab with the press of a button. Within seconds users receive confirmation of the name, photo and car model/plate of the driver, and will be able to follow the vehicle’s location in real-time as it approaches them.

Easy Taxi also enable user to save favorite addresses, check ride history and use many more features which are constantly being added. Since drivers are checked for compliance before joining the network, passengers do not need to worry about their safety and simply enjoy their ride.
