Former member of the House of Representatives and executive secretary of Anti-Corruption Network, Hon Dino Melaye, has described the government of President Goodluck Jonathan as the most corrupt in the history of the country.

Speaking with Leadership in Abuja, Hon Dino said under the leadership of President Jonathan, corruption has become a national anthem, warning that the country is doomed if the trend is not halted.

He said corruption is thriving because there is total lack of political will to fight the monster by the presidency. Melaye said the situation would continue as long as the power to appoint EFCC and ICPC heads reside with the president and called for constitutional amendment that will take the power to appoint the chairman of the important anti-graft agencies as well was as that of INEC to the National Judicial Council (NJC).

Perhaps Melaye was expecting The President to be the prosecutor and Judge role into one to expedite actions on numerous corrupt cases in court.

“Our citizens complained of delayed trial, particularly in cases of corruption, terrorism and other matters of serious concern. This complaint has led to frequent calls for special courts or designation of special judges to handle them with the required experience and speed. It will be your prerogative to consider and decide on this call.”

This was further corroborated by Reuben Abati when he confirmed that the FG, through the Ministry of Justice is preparing a bill on the administration of criminal justice, which will be submitted to the National Assembly.

Similarly, the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the President, Dr. Reuben Abati, said "ongoing reforms" would be extended to the judiciary.

"The whole idea of strengthening the judicial sector is important to this administration. For you to talk about the rule of law and make the rule of law effective, the end of justice must be served and for the end of justice to be served, the legal framework must be contemporaneous and must inspire confidence.

"This is because the judiciary cannot serve the purpose of the people if the people themselves do not have confidence in the ends of law," he said.

^^Yes the president is not the one to personally ensure that culprits are jailed but the atmosphere under him, created by the kind of people with him (GEJ) and what they do goes a long way in influencing how the Judiciary system works. Off course he wouldn't want to undermine the integrity of his co-travelers, especially with the 2015 thing in mind.

The biggest problem I have with this Goodluck man is that he honestly believes that there can be development alongside corruption. Its a terrible thing to do because you have legalised stealing. Development without corruption will give us results in record time instead of all these 2015-2017 project completion dates.

Jonathan is not about to commit political harikiri anytime soon by fighting corruption.
The reason for this is, he understands more than most, that the longevity of his administration is invariably linked to maintaining the status quo.

The problem right now is that there is no credible alternative to Jonathan, he remains the one eyed man in the house of blind people

Melaye is correct and many astute observers saw this coming. GEJ came into power backed by the most corrupt elements in Nigeria.

That, for anyone capable of critical thinking, revealed his nature. It was obvious GEJ is corrupt and fondly supportive of his corrupt pals. Overall, it is pointless to argue the conclusively proven point that corruption is currently running Nigeria through it's loyal son Goodluck Jonathan. It is as simple as that for anyone genuinely honest, decent and morally upright.

You are an ingrate upon all the wonderful work that our president is doing, you have failed to see them. Tell me any country in African where so much infrastructural projects are going on , and are being finished at record time.
