I need help brothers and sisters. I have friend in Lagos who is having a birthday soon, and I want to provide a phone for a gift. can anyone tell me how this can be done from the USA inexpensively, ie phone, service and international calling. I dont know if sending a phone from here would be compatible wit the networks there. So, how do i purchase the phone there and have it mailed. what is the best company, and phone? |

@dragnet I think what he meant was to order the phone from a company here in naija and then have the package delivered to his friend directly from the phone company. @1nation Such services isn't common here in naija but there are other alternatives like telling a relative or friend(not the bday guy) to help you purchase the phone for you and then have it delivered to the celebrant on his birthday. P.S That friend of yours will like a sonyericsson K850 as his birthday gift. Its a special phone for special people |

If you know anyone going to Lagos, get an unlocked GSM phone on one of the many online shops (just google for it), or ebay. Get a quadband or a Eurasian triband that has the 900/1800/1900 bands. At a minimum, the phone you get should have the 900/1800 bands used there. If you want a 3G phone make sure it has the band used there (2100) If you are an AT&T or tmobile sunscriber, you may be able to pick up one of their phones with the appropriate bands for free or next to nothing. Get it unlocked, they both do it for free, and you are done! |

Fanistic does it mean dat you haven't heard of a 5.0 mega pixel camera phone b4. I know of SE K850,Nokia N82 and N95 etc. You can dial any of the numbers i pasted in one of my previous posts to inquire about K850 price. |

Some of the threads in these forums seem to deviate from the original topic quite a bit. As for service there, no need for you to worry. There are sim cards all over the place. Just get the phone. The person that lives in Nigeria will figure out which sim card/service to get. info: |
