Just Thinking Out Loud. by djkaneo(m): 5:52am On Jul 31, 2013 |
In the light of recent developments, I feel compelled to make this offering. Homosexuals have found voice. They have made it clear they are here to stay. Everywhere war drumbeats can be heard. The war formations on each side have the strangest and unlikeliest of bedfellows- for the first time in a while, Christians, Muslims and even atheists have rallied round the same banner which effectively reads 'God made Adam for Eve, not Steve'. The gay ranks seem just as eclectic and accomodating, and everyone seems set for the final showdown. Now while it is easy to assume moral highground, I see the need to keep things in proper perspective. Homosexuality, like every other trait/vice has been around a long time. The first biblical account dates back to Lot, a time when mankind wasn't quite a thousand years old, by biblical reckoning. There is the (unsavoury) remark made about the by apostle Paul, which tells us they thrived in the Roman Empire. Before that even, there is documented evidence Alexander the Great was gay. And the list could go ever on and on. At the time I didn't quite velieve homosexuality was real. I wondered (and still do) what a man would exchange for the tender giggling of a woman, heart flutter brought on by a gaze into a beautiful face, a woman's juicy breasts, rounded hips, perfectly designed 'microwave' for his 'sausage roll'.... What could a man possibly leave all that for? A fellow stubble- bearded man?? I didn't believe until I had a close shave during my undergraduate days. I am no homophobe. I must admit I've come to hold gays in some dread because I find their idea of sex absolutely revulsing! Having said that, I think we ought to be reasonable with them, so long as the remain reasonable with us. And they mostly are. There exist gay clubs where gays may socialize, so we don't hear a lot about men raping men. I do not feel they should be criminalized. What they do doesn't harm anyone. Those who actually harm us roam free. I mean, when someone steals pension funds ('I only stole N23b') and brokers a N750,000 plea bargain, then ideally both the thief, his lawyer, and the presiding judge should be placed in a straight line and dispatched with a single shot between the eyes. Until that happens, it would be unfair to punish homosexuals. It would simply amount to a waste of judicial time. They will remain with us whatever we do anyway, same way they survived through the ages. Scriptures say 'these things should not even be mentioned amongst you'. It is the writer's view that they may be allowed to marry. They may not, however, be allowed to adopt children. That would infringe on the rights of the child to a father and a mother. Now, there may come a day when conception becomes possible independent of 'natural' stipulations. But until that day, homosexuals may have to remain content with mutual pleasure and company. We do not presume to fight God's battles- He cleans up His mess when He's ready. And that would include mean people who get rigged into power, empty the common tills, and have the audacity to proclaim to an accomodating church that 'all constituted authority comes from above'. Thank you for your time. I apologize if I have been offensive. I was just thinking aloud. |

Nice write up. People forget that there are bigger problems in the world for us to start worrying about what some people do being closed doors in their own houses. We are not looking at how to stop hunger among little kids or the increasing drug use by teenagers and the proliferation of small arms by youths which are all a lot more deadly but when it comes to talking about what people do in their houses, we wanna judge and scream holy hell |
