[size=14pt]Religion, in the developed world, no longer take centre stage as it does in the developing world like Nigeria. Would I be right if I say religion rides over the waves of poverty and insecurity in this country? In other words, religion thrives in Nigeria largely due to the level of poverty (which of course negatively impacts on education--many educated people are simply unenlightened), and insecurity (fear of armed robbery, road accidents, etc)? Any wonder, facebook walls of Nigerians are littered with prayer points seeking divine intervention especially in the areas of financial breakthroughs, sudden death (often inextricably linked with insecurity)?[/size] |

Religion still matters in the center stage. In the U.S Bible belt it stands strong despite chinks and although receding in Europe to the extent of being less visible in states like Sweden or Norway. Religious bodies still persist and are formidable: in fact, what atheists do consider is religious people not affliated to their respective bodies. |

I remember back in the days in the early 90s as poverty began to increase Churches gradually began to appear. Now the masses are looking to the sky for some white dude to come down & solve their problems imstead of looking to the Government. |
