Philip Njemanze, a medical practitioner and researcher has declared that by the 1st of January, 2014, Nigeria would be an expired state.

Njemanze made this declaration in Owerri, the Imo state capital while interacting with our correspondent.

According to him, the amalgamation document of 1914, a letter patent by which Nigeria came into being would expire by January 1, 2014.

Njemanze explained that according to standard international protocol, every territorial claim has a life–span of 99 years.

He cited example of the Northern and Southern Sudan which was also amalgamated by the same Lord Lugard in 1912.
