In a press release obtained by Sahara Reporters today, the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) in Lagos, Nigeria has condemned the actions of Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola and the Lagos State government following the deportation exercise of July 24th, 2013. The document also demands a public apology and additional compensation for the displaced Igbos.

The measure, the second in less than a year, moved over 70 Igbo destitutes from detention centers in Lagos, by truck, to the Upper Iweka bridge in Onitsha, Anambra State where they were abandoned in the middle of the night.

The report states: “without any reservation the CDHR see such an act as highly misguided and violate the express provision of certain sections of the Nigerian constitution. Ultimately, such action constitute an infringement on certain fundamental human rights of those involved pursuant to Section IV of the Nigeria constitution, the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights, and the United Nations Universal Declaration on Human Rights.”

The document warns that the precedence set by the deportation decision bears the danger of precipitating a civil conflict in Nigeria. “Fashola’s action is merely a class war against the ordinary people within the society”, it furthers.

An apology plus compensation for those poor victims and a promise to stop deportation of Nigerians from Lagos State using unnecessary nouns, verbs and adjectives.

Even though we don't want anything yuruba and aboki signature on it just like APC. Ngige should just forget about the up coming Anambra election, because he is not gonna come 5th in that election. Ordinarily Ngige would have come 2nd or 3rd but fashole's actions so far has thrown Ngige into the bad books of Igbos.

Where was the CDHR when the LASG did the same to a whopping 3,000 Nigerians?

Where was the CDHR when Abia sacked non indigenes in its civil service?

Where was the CDHR when the City of Abuja evacuated beggars from its streets to their respective states?

Where was the CDHR when the Anambra State Government evacuated and relocated destitutes in the state?

Where have they been until now?

Shame on all those politicizing this

This thread is about CDHR report of Fashola's illegality and said nothing about Ngige or Anambra governorship election. Try and read it again

If everything you listed above was true, its evil and had to be condemned by every human still with an atom of conscience. Just because your crazy neighbour threw his child into a pit latrine, does it mean you will come home throw in your as well? Doest it make it okay? Hiding behind a fancy word called POLITICISING which they busy throwing about in defence of an unlawful evil act.
You should condemn what Fashola did, its wrong, it doesn't matter who has done it in the past or who is doing it now. Just open your mouth and just say, its wrong and free your conscience. Speak the truth, then feel and see how liberated you will become.

I am sorry to say, you are not fit to be human. Even animals have better compassion for their less fortunate members. So because other states deported less fortunate humans in the past makes fashola's deportation right? what is politicizing about dumping human beings with flesh and blood under a bridge in the middle of the night. Even dogs cannot be so treated in advanced nations. Because a person is poor and from another tribe does not make him/her less human.
