Daily Manna: Boundless Grace

Sunday 11, August 2013

TEXT: TITUS 2:9-15

KEY VERSE: “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world” (Titus 2:11,12).

The grace of God is inexhaustible. Made available through the vicarious death of Jesus Christ, everyone can receive salvation from sin through it.

Interestingly, the same grace that brings salvation to all men does not come without making impact. It teaches us to deny ungodliness, worldly lust, live soberly, righteously, godly in this present world and look for the rapture and the second advent of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately however, this demand is what many are not comfortable with. They cannot bring themselves to conform to it; therefore, they walk in their own way; some even think, erroneously though, that it is impossible to do it. What ignorance!

It is gladdening to note that countless number of people have latched on to this boundless grace of God. Those who are still living a defeated life are not visionary enough to see that God is limitless in power and might, and with Jesus Christ on our side we can do all things through His strength. Who could ever imagine that a man can stand for righteousness and as a result have the mouth of lions shut for him? Or that the righteousness being despised by some could make some people walk in the midst of a fiery burning furnace and not be burnt? Or that a man could endure terrible persecutions (sold into slavery, lied against and cast into prison) and end up being lifted to become the prime minister of a whole nation? Obviously, the possibilities of grace are great.

All wise people repent of sin, obtain God’s grace and live by it. To join the wise, do likewise. After salvation, abide in the Lord and keep living the overcoming life till the end.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The grace of God never leaves us where it meets us.
