‘Why Ribadu will never come close to power ever again'

Pro democracy Activists under the aegis of Coalition for Democracy and Rule of Law, (CODERL), the Youth Vigil for Democracy, (YVD) and PRONACO Action Groups have raised alarm over what they called “the sinister and desperate schemes to reinstall the discredited regime of Obasanjo hatchet men at the EFCC.”

The groups in a joint statement on Tuesday alleged that the renewed effort is currently being championed by some members of the dislodged cartel at EFCC, who are desperate to have Ribadu return as chairman of the commission at all cost so as not to lose their juicy patronage.

Speaking on behalf of the civil society platforms, Alhaji Shettima Yerima in Lagos the leader of PRONACO Action Groups said: “We have uncovered the renewed dastardly schemes of these desperadoes operating in the media under the garb of anti corruption activism and we are determined to resist their schemes and propaganda to the last. ”

They said the cartel of anti corruption activists bungled their goodwill, the moment their benefactor allowed the EFCC to be used for advancing the third term plot of General Obasanjo and that no amount of sponsored media propaganda of Ribadu’s so called popularity and volte face can redeem their stewardship at the EFCC.

“We are no kids in this business anymore. We are aware of all the deals and plots to control the EFCC at all cost by this clique using flimsy procedural points to blackmail the emergence of a new order at the EFCC but they cannot eat their cake and have it. So the game is up for them,” Yerima declared
In a related development the spokesperson of PRONACO, Mr Wale Okunniyi has said that the whole talk about the Ribadu still being chairman of EFCC by the Chairman of the Campaign for Democracy, (CD) Mrs Joe Odumakin is preposterous and infantile. He said he is perturbed that having messed up the anti- graft crusade, marauders can still be employed to shamelessly discredit the confirmation of the appointment of a more qualified replacement.

“What the war against graft needs is a fresh and competent leadership at the EFCC not the discredited gestapo bullies of the elongation plot. We don’t have to know Waziri to say the truth, we have been on this same critique of the EFCC since 2006 when it became clear that the EFCC was merely beating enemies of Obasanjo’s hidden plot into line. Our various statements in the media since 2006 are clear testimonies of this fact.

We are also aware that Obasanjo surreptitiously instigated the romance between some activists and the leadership of the EFCC to clip any negative activism against the EFCC third term operations unknown to most hoodwink consultants of the EFCC. So nobody can accuse us of being deployed to engage the EFCC, ” Okunniyi reiterated.

What does that mean? What the basis for comparing Ribadu and obama?

Ribadu was an office holder; not a contestant.

ribadu doesnt have impeccable integrity, like obama
ribadu isnt an excellent orator like obama, he just rants and raves
its like comparing eba and pounded yam lol

I don't think Ribadu's supporters understand these facts. They tend to see things differently and continue to denial his incompetency, insincerity and improbity.

He had the opportunity, an enormous advantage and a complete support of Nigerians to take it to the next level, but he wasn't smart enough to discover the bigger picture when it would have counted the most.

No matter how you guys want to rubbish Ribadu's work, it still stands out. One in 144 million. grin

Just have in mind that the kind of leader US needs now is different from the one Nigeria needs. The former needs an inspiring leader while the later needs a disciplinarian. Nigerians suffer heads behave normal with some uniform guys using koboko on their backs. grin grin
Now, hope you can understand why both Obama and Ribadu made history in their respective fields of play.

Now, hope you can understand why both Obama and Ribadu made history in their respective fields of play.

There is a big difference between making history and making fool of oneself!

Ribadu made mistakes, but he sure made history in Nigeria; very positive ones for that matter. I have not noticed any Nigerian; past and present who his/her bravery matches that of the young man.

You cant take his several achievements away from him with your several anti-Ribadu threads in Niaraland.

First, I will like to inform you that you do not admire Ribadu like I did.
Ribadu is kicking himself today because he knew what was right from what was wrong, but took a stupid chance and allowed himself to be used as an ordinary mop.

My friend, do you know what happens to a mop that later becomes dirty, brittle and useless?

I disagree with this topic!

Ribadu would never be like and should never be matched to OBAMA!

@Poster

you might as well say OBJ was our OBAMA!That sounds more suspect, doesnt it?!
Re: Ribadu Could Have Been Our Obama In Nigeria! by BigB11(m): 2:08pm On Jun 05, 2008
For once, let us get out of the box and please do not mention OBJ.

Believe it or not, Ribadu happens to be a bright young man who (at some point) had the aptitude to take it to the next level and lead this nation, using the same exact slogan "CHANGE".
But it seems to me that My man (Ribadu) clearly traded this great opportunity for coins with bunch holes.

Therefore, it makes sense to compare the 2.
FYI: OBAMA intentionally started from the bottom a little bit over 10 years ago. With sincerity, honesty, integrity and clear vision, Barack Obama is few steps away from leading the greatest nation on earth.

nuzo:

Ribadu made mistakes, but he sure made history in Nigeria; very positive ones for that matter.

No. he made very bad and disastrous mistakes. infact I can hardly recollect anything good he did.

he was a weapon for propagating 3rd term. he refused to touch certain sacred cows.
what history did he make?

I have not noticed any Nigerian; past and present who his/her bravery matches that of the young man.
thats because u are not a good student of history.
obafemi awolowo, mohammadu buhari, tunde idiagbon and murtala m.ohammed are far better role models.

You can't take his several achievements away from him with your several anti-Ribadu threads in Niaraland.
nobody can.
we cant take away his foolish and unintelligent posture on PTDF, GLO and otunba fasawe.
he arrested m.ohammed babangida, what came out of it? nothing.
he recieved petitions on iyabo as far back as 2006 yet did nothing about it.
same with oil petitions on obj.

to people like u he is a hero, but to those of us who carry a conscience.
he is a villian.

Instead of building up and empowering EFCC as an organization that serves Nigeria as a nation, Mr. Ribadu was busy advertising and selling himself at a very discounted price. He wasted our money, our time and contributed toward tarnishing our great image as Nigerians all around the world with absolutely nothing accomplished.

All the folks he illegally and selectively harassed during his time as the EFCC chairman are all living better than ever today. So what's the point?
This man couldn't successfully close one single case or complete an operation. He was noisy, clumsy, unprofessional, unorganized and also ran around the world like an area boy with nothing to write home about.
With his XL defective ego, he truly thought he was on top of the world, but totally forgot all about tomorrow and neglected the obvious bigger picture.

Organization usually outlives human; therefore, it only makes sense for a responsible, sensible and sincere entity to focus more on empowering the organization for tomorrow.
If Ribadu was for real, he would have spent more of his time implementing firm protocols that would have empowered EFCC for many years to come.
But intentionally did not do so; instead, he empowered himself and his boss!

ribadu has not accomplished any feat a normal sane person will achieve in his shoes,he had all the powers and even too much of a free hand and all he did was issue orders and picked people up,dont forget that nigerian politicians are one of the most stupid when it comes to money laundering, they just take the money and send it straight t uk or south africa,or keep it in a vault like abacha or in a room, if ribadu was working in a western world and he managed to arrest the amount of people he did, thats when i can be convinced he s good,u and i can do same job if we were the chairman of efcc, all u have to do is just pick up a newspaper ,close ur eyes and ill bet 1 million pounds at least 2 out of the politicians on the front page are criminals, send ur goons after them n arrest them
