It ‘s now been a few months since the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi proved Aso Rock wrong and emerged victorious in the Nigeria Governors Forum election , polling 19 votes to defeat his closest and only rival Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State who polled only 16 votes despite the mighty power of President Goodluck Jonathan that was deployed to ensure that Amaechi lost. To Amaechi , he probably breathed a sigh of relief that the ordeal was over and he can now settle down to the task of providing inspirational leadership to Rivers people.

He was wrong!

His problems were just warming up to start!

In a bid to prove that there should be clear and unambiguous separation of the roles of the Governors and the President in the affairs of the NGF, he unwittingly made a tactical mistake. He made an overwhelming political enemy in the person of President Goodluck Jonathan and played into the hands of those Rivers Politicians who have been waiting for the right opportunity to deal with him. Without wasting a moment the overwhelming presidential wherewithal was brought to bear on him and our hero Amaechi started to totter. Explosive!
