The senator was arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja amid heavy presence of police officers. The Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the state Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of deceiving President Muhammadu Buhari during his visit to the state. PDP said the state governor decieved the President into coming to the state “Only for him to commission uncomplicated projects and 500 tractors hired by the government.” Spokesperson of the party in the state,Yayanuwa Zainabari in a chat with journalists insisted that the distribution of those tractors was not worth the President’s visit. He noted that the Abubakar-led APC administration has failed to complete any tangible projects within the last three years despite the bailouts and other funds it collected. Zainabari said, “It’s unfortunate that the governor would invite the President to come all the way from the nation’s capital without any visible projects on ground to commission. “The work on Maiduguri bye-pass to Awalah roundabout had been ongoing more than two years despite the fact that the money for the project was given by the Federal Government but the state government only rushed to complete it two days before the president’s visit to the state. “So, I fear that the road may not last long because they didn’t do quality work “. Consequently, the PDP spokesperson urged people of the state to vote out the All Progressives Congress (APC) led government in the next election. He alleged that, “the Governor has failed woefully due to his ineptitude”. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/how-gov-abubakar-deceived-buhari-during.html

Samuel Ortom, governor of Benue state, says 18 of the 23 local government areas in the state are under attack by “herdsmen.” He lamented the “continued onslaught” against the state by the herdsmen, calling for vigilance from the people. Ortom was speaking in Makurdi on Monday while interacting with journalists after his return from China. The governor said President Muhammadu Buhari was working round the clock with his security chiefs to end the attacks. He also said Tukur Buratai, chief of army staff (COAS), would soon visit the state to address some of the challenge. Ortom also condemned the recent burning down of some houses in a community by soldiers as well as the killing of a soldier by hoodlums in the area. He said neither the killing of the soldier nor the arson that followed the killing could be justified in law. He, however, disclosed that the five suspects linked to the soldier’s death were handed over to the police and wondered why the soldiers still went on to burn houses. “Reprisal of any kind will not be accepted by my government and blood shed should not take place in the state no matter the situation,” he said. “When you allow lawlessness to prevail, you are calling for anarchy and when anarchy is allowed to prevail it will unleash a lot of havoc in the society.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/05/18-of-23-lgas-in-benue-are-under-attack.html

The Igbo in the 19 Northern states and Abuja have reacted to the bomb explosion that occurred at the residence of the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo in Ukehe, Enugu State on Sunday. The Igbo under the aegis of the Igbo Delegate Assembly, IDA, has expressed shock at the incident, describing the perpetrators as enemies of Ndigbo. He said, “Those behind the act could not have been lovers of Ndi gbo, going by the fact that Chief John Nnia Nwodo has come to represent our collective efforts to speak with one voice in a highly complex Nigerian state. “We, the Igbo people in the North, are deeply alarmed at the resort to violence by elements opposed to his narrative and deluded by the assumption that frightening incidents of this sort are vehicles to deter from his positive leadership of his people. The statement tasked the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim K Idris to spare no stone in ensuring a diligent investigation on the explosion, enjoining him to take proactive measures to forestall future occurrence. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/ohanaeze-igbos-in-north-lament-bomb.html

Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, has reacted to the verification exercise conducted on Saturday in Kogi West, to recall Senator Dino Melaye. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had on Saturday, conducted a verification exercise in 552 out of the 560 polling units in the seven local government areas that make up Kogi West. Despite the fact that Melaye was being admitted at the intensive care unit of the National Hospital and also placed on arrest by the Nigerian Police; the exercise in Kogi West was said to have witnessed a low turnout. Aside the apathy that marred the exercise, officials of INEC were also said to have witnessed protests from electorate in some council areas, who said they were surprised to find their names and purported signatures on the said recall register. As at the close of the exercise on Saturday, no polling unit was said to have recorded 50 per cent verified signatures of the total names on the register. Reacting to the seemingly failed exercise, Hon. Faleke, who was the deputy to the Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2016 election in Kogi, late Abubakar Audu; carpeted Governor Yahaha Bello of not being popular in Kogi state. Faleke, who took to his verified Twitter handle, wrote, “The recall project has failed. The people won. The outcome today is not just about Dino but the open rejection of the Yahaha Bello led state government. “Even in detention, @dino_melaye defeated them. Clear sign that Yahaha Bello is very unpopular in Kogi state”. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/dino-melayes-recall-faleke-mocks-gov.html

The OAP said she attended churches, had many prayer and fasting sessions, took a lot of communion but none took the fibroids away. The stunning media personality made this revelation in her latest vlog where she dropped the bombshell. Toke said: “I have been battling fibroid for 6 going on 7 years and it’s been one hell of a ride. I think I was diagnosed 7 years ago. I finally decided to do something about the situation this year because it was getting to the point where it was beginning to affect me. I was in a lot of pains I couldn’t sit up properly it was beginning to push against certain organs inside of me. it was just nasty and a total disaster. I started wearing undergarment body magic just to make so, i don’t look bloated and pregnant cos I didn’t want to have surgery. Trust me I have been to Mountian of Fire, been through ever church service, taken all the communions and done all the fasting and prayer. It just didn’t get better. If you are like me and scared of going under the knife it can be a terrible experience, it was successful and I’m alive, I’m here.” she concluded. Now we know what she was talking about when she shared a story about a week ago about going through depression and having a successful surgery. The beautiful multi-talented radio show host and author of “On Becoming” took to her Instagram page on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, where she got to share her inspiring story with a video of a popular American pastor, Steven Furtick, where she said she got the inspiration from. “The devil started planting words of uncertainty in my heart and I started to drift. I started to feel unworthy and it was a strange feeling I had a very important procedure and I didn’t tell anyone simply because a part of me wanted out from it. (Can you believe the cheek), last week I went into surgery and as the doctors did their thing, Jesus did his. He was there to lift all the unnecessary burden and give me a new heart and as I woke up I felt different. I felt chosen, I felt like I went thru a re-birth and I share this because someone out there is struggling too,” she wrote. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/bombshell-toke-makinwa-battling-fibroid.html

The president gave the assurance in Bauchi on Thursday while commissioning Air Force Special Operation Centre in the state. He expressed that the establishment of the Air Force base was to contend with the emerging security threats in the North East and by extension Nigeria. He regretted the incursion of insurgents and attributed their activities as the bane of economic setback as well as poverty and hunger in the troubled region. Federal government, he vowed, will not watch innocent citizens being killed on daily basis. Buhari urged the military not to relent in their genuine determination to safeguard the nation’s territory with a particular reference to terrorism. The president commended the Bauchi state government for the necessary support given to the federal government in terms of mass land given for the establishment of the Air Force base. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/buhari-restates-commitment-to-tackle.html

Nigerian singer and Mavin Dynasty artiste Korede Bello recently bagged a distinction as he graduates from the Nigerian institute of journalism and he was said to have buy the grade. Many had believed that because he is a very popular artiste that he does not have the time to study, and he has used his wealth to influence his result by buying the grades through sorting the lecturers. Korede Bello has come out to defend himself saying he did not buy the result but he paid for it through his hard work, commitment and sacrifice. In his words; “I initially didn’t want to post this for many reasons but I was wrong on all counts. I’d be doing millions of young people and my peers a disservice by not boldly putting it out there that impossibility is a myth; you can be Talented and Distinguished; Famous and Dignified; Celebrated and Educated ; that you can be a MEGA SUPER STAR with a MEGA SUPER VISION. For this I am grateful to God. The main reason I endured to the finish line was because I needed to push myself and also to be a light for a lot of young Nigerians who think you cannot be an established Artiste and still achieve academic excellence. I endured because #MyPeople needed a role model. A few days before I got signed I was still looking for tuition fees, so I understand the experience that some of you go through. But just as HE came through for me, He’ll come through for you. No, it wasn’t easy but it was worth it. I was graced and I'm grateful. And no, I didn’t buy my result but I paid for it through hardwork, commitment and sacrifice (time and music). You can too. I believe in you, I believe in us.” Korede Bello said. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/i-didnt-buy-my-result-korede-bello.html

A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George has lashed out at former Osun State Governor, Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola, over what he described as “uncharitable and irritable vituperations” against him. Oyinlola had advised George to seek forgiveness from former President Olusegun Obasanjo and stop attacking his benefactor. The former Governor stated this on Saturday, in reaction to a recent interview by George where he described Obasanjo’s Coalition for Nigeria Movement as a deceit and waste of time. “Rather than attack current efforts at rebuilding Nigeria, I will advise Chief Bode George to retrace his steps and queue up in the CNM. I say so because, whatever he is today in politics is a product of Obasanjo’s magnanimous efforts. “In the same vein, I state without any fear of contradiction that if Obasanjo has 10 enemies today in Nigeria, Chief Bode George made eight for him, if not the whole lot. So, I plead with him to go back to Obasanjo and seek forgiveness. “I am also interested in that part of his statement where he described the CNM as a waste of time and a deceit by its promoters. I must say that I was surprised that someone of Chief Bode George’s pedigree and training would hastily write off a project carefully planned by seasoned minds. “The CNM is a reaction to the inadequacies of the system we have. It is not a waste of time and cannot be a waste of time. It is designed to rescue Nigeria and build a new generation of leaders for our country,” Oyinlola said. But in a press statement personally signed by George on Sunday, he said: “I read today (Sunday) the untidy, uncharitable and irritable vituperations of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola against my good self. I was rather astonished at the level of uninformed, reckless, misleading verbiage against me. “Prince Oyinlola was very junior to me in the military. I am very senior to him in age. It was my humble self and the late Chief S.M. Afolabi who introduced him to our former President and my egbon Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. “It was through me and the grace of God Almighty that he was elected governor of Osun State. Oyinlola should not dabble into issues he does not know anything about at all. I have served several Generals with 100 per cent loyalty. “I have no grudge against our former President. I have a lot of respect for him. I greet him wherever we meet with deep respect and reverence as a well born Yoruba man. “Oyinlola, please don’t start to open any can of worms that you do not know where it will spill over to. “When one is sent a slave’s errand, you should behave like a true, well born.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/2019-bode-george-oyinlola-trade-words.html

The Green Party of Nigeria, GPN, has commiserated with the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission, KADSIECOM, and Kaduna State government over the fire incident that was recorded at the KADSIECOM office Saturday, stating however that the local government elections should hold as scheduled. Kaduna State chairman of the party, Ahmed Mohammed Zagi, in a statement, said, “We therefore, insist that the local council polls will still hold as scheduled, while calling on the state government and law enforcement agencies to fully investigate the incidences surrounding the fire outbreak to erase suspicions of sabotage from those who may not want the polls to hold.” Recall that fire had gutted the head office of KADSIECOM on Saturday around 10am when senior management staff were holding a meeting. Zagi’s statement read, “The Green Party of Nigeria (GPN) commiserates with the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) and the Kaduna State Government over the unfortunate fire incidence that gutted its head office on Sokoto Road on Saturday April 21, 2018. “We are deeply saddened by the development happening few days to the long awaited Kaduna State Local Government elections. “GPN is worried about this unfortunate incident, but wishes to categorically state that in spite of the development, elections in Kaduna State must go on as scheduled. “Our party believes in true and genuine democracy and is of the view that the local government areas which are the closest to the grassroots deserve to be administered by elected representatives at the council and ward levels. “GPN has committed a lot of resources in preparing for the polls and would not hesitate to seek redress in court of law the polls fail to hold as scheduled. “GPN is a new breed political party that believes in equity, justice and fairness and assures all that our party when it takes power at the centre and states in 2019, would always ensure that Nigerians are place first.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/green-party-insists-on-kaduna-lg-polls.html

Former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi has expressed his reservations about President Muhammadu Buhari’s speech where he described Nigerian youths as being lazy. He rather said that the Nigerian youths were hardworking and among the best in the world. Obi, who was at the 10th Anniversary celebration of Nnamdi Azikiwe radio station, UNIZIK 94.1FM, regreted that the performance of the youths were impeded by misrule of past governments. He dismissed the impression of scarcity of jobs as defeatist, saying the first job before the youths was voting out bad governance. “Unemployment is as a result of accumulated bad leadership. There are jobs out there for you and the first job is to ensure good governance. That you can achieve by voicing out your opinion on national issues and questioning what is happening,” he said. He regretted the accumulated debt being owed by the country which he put to the tune of $70billion, saying that Nigeria would be in risk situation by 2025 if the ugly trend persisted. “It is unfortunate that a nation like China which was at par with Nigeria, has so much outgrown her, with her GDP rising from $10.5b to $3trillion.” The former governor referred to Nigeria as a failed state, with over 10million out of school children and 15m unemployed youths. He, however, expressed hope that the nation can bounce back if the youths were provided the enabling environment to showcase their talents. Earlier, the Zonal Director, National broadcasting commission, Mrs. Susan Obi, commended the management of the station for being objective in their reportage. She said NBS had never had any cause to sanction the station for any violations as it had always complied with regulations since its establishment. Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku who was also at the ocassion said the station had kept faith with the paradigms in the area of community broadcasting. “Within ten years of coming on air, a period during which the station should ordinarily be struggling to find its feet, it leaped into prominence rising head and shoulders above its peers. “It has attracted and retained vast listenership, especially among the youths, across many states, through the quality of its programmes in informing, educating and entertaining as veritable tool of mass communication,” he said. The Director of the station, Prof. Stella Okunna was full of appreciation to the guests and the School authority for being supportive to the project, pledging to continue to project the goal of its establishment. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/nigerian-youths-among-best-globally.html

An aspirant for the Ekiti governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ayo Arise, has revealed who Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the party will support to emerge APC flag bearer. Arise, who represented Ekiti North senatorial district in the 6th Assembly said Tinubu told him he would decide to support an aspirant, after the conduct of the party’s primary election in the state, slated for May 5. The former lawmaker, who stated this while addressing journalists in Abuja, also revealed why President Muhammadu Buhari and Tinubu are dominant actors in APC. He said both the president and the former Lagos governor are contending camps in the party’s primary election slated for May 5. According to Arise, “The President is our President and is the head of the party. For those of us who are Yoruba people, our leader and the leader of the party is Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I don’t think that it is necessary for me to go and tell the President that I want to be governor of Ekiti. “But if I have the opportunity to see him, I probably will do that. But I am not going to be spending time running to him because maybe what I will be asking him is to come and help me. Looking at him and his nature, I know he will prefer a free and fair primary. “So, by going to him, I may be asking for special privilege. I want a free and fair election in Ekiti. I have been a victim of such leverage before when I ran in December 2006 for the primary. So, what I don’t what to be done to me, I don’t want it to be done to other people. So, I am advocating a very free and fair election. “As of necessity, I must go and inform the leader of the party. Even if you are not in APC, and you are a Yoruba man and you look at the contribution of Asiwaju to that party, it is likely that you will give it to him because he has earned that leadership role. “For me, I am one of those that cannot underestimate his influence. So, I have gone to see him on a number of occasions and he has told me what he would want to see because we are all his men. He wants to see who will be able to win the primary first before throwing his weight behind the person.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/ekiti-guber-aspirant-reveals-who-tinubu.html

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the pan Igbo socio-cultural organisation, has dismissed the endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term by some Igbo groups working under its umbrella. The apex Igbo body stated that the endorsement of any candidate including Buhari will be after wide consultations. Chairman of Ohaneze, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, chapter, Odozi Nwodozi, stated this while noting that the group’s position on the purported endorsement did not mean it was against the candidacy of Buhari in the forthcoming elections, since he has the constitutional right for a second term. In a statement signed and issued in Abuja, Nwodozi described those endorsing Buhari as renegades from alleged disbanded Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Wing as well as the Women Wing. The statement reads, “It has come to the knowledge of Ohanaeze Ndigbo FCT chapter that renegades from the disbanded Okechukwu Isiguzoro-led Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing and the Callista Adimachukwu Ohanaeze Ndigbo Women are presently in Abuja for a purported endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari for the 2019 Presidency. “This shameful exercise which is been coordinated by an Enugu-state born head of a federal government parastatal is the crystallization of the vituperations of these discredited groups on the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for the past one month. “It should be noted that while Ndigbo are not against the candidacy of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 polls, since he has the constitutional right for a second term, endorsement for any candidate including Buhari will be after wide consultations. “However, it is important to let the public know that these characters engaging in the exercise are not qualified to do it as their mandates have since expired at the dissolution of their groups. And elections for both organs are scheduled for Friday 20th and Saturday 21st April 2018 in Enugu where new leadership will emerge “For the Igbo persons in the present administration who have been financing and orchestrating the macabre dance of the disgraced youth and women leaders for the past two months, their desperation for relevance and display of grip of the Igbo socio-political structure should be guided, else they exhaust the little credence the have left in Igbo land.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/2019-ohanaeze-speaks-on-endorsing.html

Big Brother Naija 2018 housemate, Cee-c is now the head of house for the final week of the television reality show. Biggie wanted housemates to pick this week’s head of house among themselves. He, however told them that they should select between the housemate that had served as the head of house the least number of times and the housemate that had headed the house the most. Tobi and Cee-c fell under these categories. But housemate flouted the order and picked Nina instead as the Head of House. Their decision did not, however, go well with Biggie who gave them 90 minutes to reverse the choice. They were given the option to choose from either Cee-c or Tobi. While Tobi has won the highest number of Head of House challenge, Cee-c had won none. The housemates, therefore stripped Nina off the Head of House and gave it to Cee-c http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/bbnaija-2018-why-biggie-removed-nina-as.html

Nigerian female comedian Bose Ogunboye who upon her plus size had adopted the stage name Lepacious Bose which many never knew it was a wish and prayer until recent times that she shade off so much amount of fat. With many critics on her career saying she is far from being successful, well the comedian has issued out what her own definition of success is and not what they are all saying. Lepacious Bose has issued that being successful is not when you are having big mansions or driving bigger cars that rather success is defined with the happiness you incur and the battles and struggle which you have won. She said; “I have learnt not to judge my success in life by the standard of the world but by my battles and struggles. It’s interesting to see how people compare me with others, their luxurious cars, their beautiful mansions, their amazing family etc. People have said to me why are you not like so and so, why are you not doing this and that like so and so, why are you not on this show or why has this person not interviewed you or why were you not in this movie….. Hmmm. That is your definition of success not mine. Oh I want to live in mansions and fly First Class trips round the world too don’t get me wrong: but I have walked through fire, I have lived rent free in hell, I have known indescribable emotional pain that even the closet people to Me can only imagine. I have performed in comedy shows, got standing ovations while I drove home in tears and pains. I have taken picture perfect pictures while my scars hurt through my smiles. For me simply surviving day by day is great success, rising above my personal pain is super success. Emi ni eni ti araye ti rope mio le da nkan Se, sugbon mo ri anu re gba Olu Orun, loba MI Se. There is more to life than your bank account and people’s opinion lol, sometimes what you think you want so badly will not give you joy when you finally get it…. Trust me, I know this lol. The true definition of success is to find true happiness not based on what you have or what people think you have, not based on your spouse or your children, not because the world approves it but because deep within you there is peace, joy and tranquility. A friend asked me recently what do you want for your birthday, I looked through the list of my needs and smiled, you see I could not give an answer because what I want most in life is not in anyone’s power to give me, it’s a gift I have to find within me and give myself…. Even God won’t give me, that’s not how He works, He will lead me to find it, but finding it is my duty. …. YE THOUGH I WALK THROUGH THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH I WILL FEAR NO EVIL FOR THE LORD IS WITH ME!” Many people have their own definition of success and I think this one is far a better definition of the term success. Officers of the Nigeria Police Mobile unit deployed to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Daudu, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State on Saturday shot dead a pregnant displaced teenager, simply identified as Queen Zoho, who stays in the camp. New Telegraph newspaper reports that she was killed during a melee that arose from an argument between youths of the area and the policemen. The deceased was reportedly shot alongside two other men currently in critical condition. It was gathered that the deceased had been staying in the IDPs camp since the outbreak of the farmers/herdsmen crisis and has since not been able to return to her ancestral home as the Fulani insurgents have taken over their communities. According to eye-witnesses, the killing which ignited serious tension within and outside the vicinity of the camp, started when a man identified as Ornyiev, conveying a passenger on his motorcycle to a village in Daudu for a wake keep was intercepted by the Mobile Policemen at a roadblock they had mounted. “On arriving at the roadblock, Ornyiev was flagged down by the Mopol who seized his motorcycle. He (Ornyiev) then called his district head on the telephone to intimate him about what had happened on his way to the burial. “The district head swiftly sent words that the officers should please pardon the cyclist and release the motorcycle to him. “As they were talking, the Mopol man started beating Ornyiev. The policeman hit him with his gun butt after he asked why they were maltreating him. “This attracted onlookers and passers-by and the policeman, in the process, corked his gun and fired shot which killed the pregnant and injured the other two men.” Mother of the deceased, Mrs Paulina Zoho, told New Telegraph that her daughter had gone to look for water from where she was informed of the police brutality. Mrs. Zoho disclosed that they were staying in Kogi state but only came home for holidays when they were caught up by the Fulani herdsmen attacks on their community. She said her husband was not in the state when the incident occurred but was making efforts to contact him. State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu said he was yet to obtain full details about the killing and promised to provide later. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/policeman-allegedly-kills-pregnant.html

Shehu Sani, the senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district in the National Assembly has raised the alarm over killings and kidnappings in the state. Sani accused the Kaduna state government of concealing massive killing of citizens in the state, adding that the state is unsafe as Benue and Taraba which are currently being controlled by herdsmen. According to him, poor residents of the state bury their loved ones daily and pay heavy ransom to herdsmen. The lawmaker disclosed this in a series of tweets on his Twitter page. He wrote, “Kaduna state is as unsafe as Benue, Zamfara and Taraba states. Birnin Gwari bothering Zamfara and Niger state is controlled by heavily armed bandits or herdsmen who are killing both soldiers and civilians. “Kidnaping & killing are a daily occurrence. Anything short of this is a lie. “The mass killings & kidnappings going on in parts of Kaduna state are systematically suppressed in order not to embarrass the state and the federal government. “Poor people keep burying their dead with tears & others paying heavy ransom to herdsmen. The victims are expected to praise government for ‘trying’.” http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/kaduna-government-concealing-mass.html

• Attacks extension of terrorism, says Ortom Herdsmen Tuesday night invaded Gbeji and Tswarev communities in Ukum and Logo council areas of Benue State, killing no fewer than 10 persons. The names of those killed, according to community sources, include Mtserkyaa lgbugh; Kananfa Amarfu; Tyavyar Akau; Orfega Hiikyaa; Kanyitor Uor; a suspected unidentified septuagenarian among others. An eyewitness told The Guardian that several houses were torched and property worth millions of naira destroyed. According two residents of Gbeji, Abraham Ngyenev and Abraham Azawe, the attack began at about 6p.m. when the herdsmen invaded their farms and destroyed crops for over three hours. Similarly, three other persons were reportedly attacked and killed by nomads in some settlements in Tswarev, Logo Local Council, while injuring scores. The two council areas border each other. In Logo, the affected communities were Channel One, Orveren and Ajura villages where Tor Imbor; Aondowua Mnyor and Msugh Ajura were feared dead in addition to several injuries and burning of houses by the assailants. Information from the invaded settlements also revealed that the attacks lasted for more than three hours without hindrance. A development, they said, forced hundreds of the villagers to flee the areas. The Chairman of Logo Council, Richard Nyajo, while confirming the development, appealed to security agents to do more in safeguarding lives and property in the area. His counterpart at Ukum, Iberlogo Tortyokyaa, who also confirmed the incidents in his domain, lamented the wanton killing of innocent people in the area. He called on the Federal Government to be alive to its responsibility of protecting lives and property. The State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Awoseni, who corroborated the council bosses, however, noted that four corpses had been recovered. Maintaining that the incidents were a brainchild of suspected herdsmen, Awoseni added that security had been beefed up in the affected areas. Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom has described the attacks as an extension of the terrorism perpetrated by Boko Haram. He spoke yesterday in Makurdi while reacting to the renewed mayhem in parts of the state. The governor stated that the manner in which the armed men invade the communities and slaughter innocent people was not different from the “mindless acts” of Boko Haram in the North East. He said: “They come with sophisticated weapons and kill people. Machete and chase them away.” Ortom said equally disturbing was the pattern of attacks whereby the armed militias occupy communities after killing and sacking the inhabitants. He went on: “In some cases, they do not have the herds. They just come with their weapons, kill and chase the people out and take over the land and that is the worrisome part of it.” The governor also condemned the recent attacks on Gwer West council area where several lives were lost and property worth millions destroyed. Ortom said the trend in Benue was beyond mere grazing of livestock, arguing that if the invaders were only interested in grazing, the massive destruction of lives and property would not have been their priority. He called for better presence of security personnel in parts of the state, especially the flashpoints, to avoid further loss of lives and the worsening humanitarian crisis with over 170,000 internally displaced persons in various camps across the state. In Nasarawa, a woman was feared dead and many missing following an attack on Kadarko market in the early hours of yesterday. An eyewitness, Agyer James, said the suspected herders invaded the popular Kadarko Market at about 9:00a.m., shooting sporadically. He said: “The attack started at 8:30p.m. the previous night when we started hearing gunshot around the Kadarko primary school where IDPs are being camped.” He said the victim, Miss Susan Jonathan, was gunned down by the marauding herdsmen inside the market. The police public relations officer (PPRO), ACP Kennedy Idrisu, who confirmed the killing, said the command had deployed more personnel to the area. Also reacting, the president of the Tiv Youth Association, Comrade Peter Ahembe, warned that they could be compelled to defend themselves if the carnage persists. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/again-herders-murder-11-persons-in.html

A former Minister of Information, Prince Tony Momoh has said that he convinced President Muhammadu Buhari to re-contest after 2011 elections. Momoh defending Buhari’s declaration to seek reelection, noted that the president never at any time promised to run for a single term. MC EBISCO recall that the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina earlier debunked reports that his principal pledged only one-term presidency. Adesina speaking on Channels Television on Tuesday said Buhari was misquoted. Also, Momoh, who was the national chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), the party under which candidate Buhari contested the 2011 presidential election, said even if the president ever said so, he still had a right to change his mind as the constitution allowed him to seek re-election. Momoh while speaking with Daily Independent in Abuja said what President Buhari declared after the 2011 presidential election was that he will not vie for the presidency again. He stated that he, however, cautioned him against saying so, as only the party can decide his next line of action. “Buhari never said he will only contest for a single term. The Buhari I know will never say so. In fact, he said he will not contest again after the 2011 election. “I was the national chairman of CPC and I said, ‘Shut up! You are a member of CPC. It is the party that decides where you go to. You are only an individual and so, he bowed to the wishes of the party. “So, he never said he will do a single term. But even if he said so, can he not change his mind? But I am saying that he didn’t say so. He is constitutionally qualified to contest twice,” Momoh said http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/2019-buhari-never-promised-single-term.html

Adebayo Shittu, the Minister of Communications, says former President Olusegun Obasanjo and other ex-military leaders cannot hinder President Muhammadu Buhari’s chance of being re-elected in 2019. Shittu, speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, said since the former Nigerian leaders “are not God, there should be no apprehension’’. Buhari had on Monday declared his intention to seek re-election. Reacting to Buhari’s declaration, the minister said the action was a welcome development, urging APC supporters to discard fear of Obasanjo. “Who is OBJ? OBJ is not God. IBB is not God. Obasanjo was president here, he wanted a third term and he didn’t get it. “What Mr President did yesterday (Monday), we had done that much back on his behalf; that is the Mohammadu Buhari/Osinbajo Dynamic Support Group. “So what he did yesterday was just a follow-up to what we had done about three months ago. “And I want to assure you is that by the grace of God, Mohammadu Buhari will become president the second time,” he said. “The president has distinguished himself as his achievement in three years had surpassed what the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Nigeria in 15 years. “For instance in the area of job creation for youths, no government has ever in one day employed 200, 000 graduates. It has never happened but under Buhari N-Power it happened. “Through this, he has provided jobs for 200, 000 families spread across the length and breadth of Nigeria. “Government is still processing the employment of 300, 000 more graduates to make it 500, 000, this has never happened. “In the areas of transport, works and housing, the last budget of the PDP government was less than N20 billion and most of these monies were stolen; diverted to private pockets. “In 2017 alone, the Buhari government spent N255 billion on those subject matters; transport, works and housing. So how do you compare? “Today, government is also building new roads across the South East states with 100 million dollars SUKUK loan; non interest loan from Islamic Development Bank. “For the first time, government is building new railway from Lagos to Kano, from Kano to Maiduguri, from Maiduguri to Calabar and from Calabar to Lagos. So the records are there,” he added. http://www.mcebisco.com.ng/2018/04/2019-obasanjo-babangida-cannot-stop.html
