Femi Fani Kayode And His Junk Research by Taich(m): 6:52pm On Aug 19, 2013
I have tried so very hard to restrain myself from
responding to Femi Fani kayode’s unguarded
vituperations and reckless utterances against Ndi
Igbo. My containment stems from the fact that it is
always traditional to ignore an infamous voluble
that wears an emblem of discourteous habit,
especially against elders. However, whenever a
drum tries to over syncopate, it will be reminded of
the skin it is made of.
I think it is high time that Femi is checked from
indoctrinating young Nigerians with his grisly
nationalism and feeding them with fake and
disruptive history. He should not misrepresent the
good people of Oduduwa (some of my best friends
are Yorubas and we have tremendous respect for
each other). If he has again become “hungry and
angry for appointment and desperately wants
prominence, he should not apply the contumacies
of ethnic irredentism to balloon himself into the
corridors of power” (this was Kola Ola Olaniran’s
description of Femi Fani kayode in 2006 in an
article titled ‘Rudeness Runs in Fani kayode’s
Family’).
Before Femi was appointed SSA to the President
Obasanjo on Media, I did not know much about him
(but had read about his father Fani Power). On his
appointment, I was one of the young Nigerians who
had greeted his appointment in the Nigerian
gerontocracy. But it did not take long before his
chameleonic attributes began to show and his
penchant for insult became manifest.
Since the incident of the relocation of those
destitute (according to the Lagos state
government), to Onitsha and the resultant
condemnations (surely a normal reaction) by many
Igbo sons and daughters, Femi has thrown caution
to the winds and assumed ‘King konic’ position and
has mounted the rostrum to condemn the entire
Igbo race and remind them of their woes, perdition,
and the “trauma of invalidation”. Like I said earlier,
I was so reluctant to join issues with Femi but for
his third issue on this subject titled “A Word for
those that call Me an Igbo-Hater”
Like a King kong, he boasted of his niche and
dexterity for history and research and made such
puerile comparison that could only be heard in a
gathering of kindergartens (apologies to Chief Bisi
Akande). Let me try to junk some of his ‘well
researched history’’ before I come back to him and
his stomach-churning loquaciousness. It is
imperative to mention here that there is no tension
whatsoever between the Igbos and Yorubas as
pontificated by the destructive Femi. Maybe this
tension only exists in his bellicose psyche fuelled by
importunate quest for recognition.
“It is that same attitude of ‘’we own everything’’,
‘’we must have everything’’ and ‘’we must control
everything’’ that the Igbo settlers manifested in
the northern region in the late 1950’s and early
and mid-1960’s that got them into so much
trouble up there with the Hausa-Fulani and that
eventually led to the terrible pogroms where almost
100,000 of them were killed in just a few days.”
The above statement by Femi clearly adumbrates
the summit of psychosis and megalomania. It does
not in any way reveal even an infinitesimal step in
research to find out the true cause and sequence
of an event. An objective researcher goes beyond
prejudice in conclusion. Let me remind Femi that a
distinct feature of the Igbos is inclination for
adventure and a love for achievement that is why
they have developed their homeland mostly
through self efforts and collective practices. Igbos
are industrious and will always be productive in any
setting and enclave they find themselves. Keep an
Igbo man in the jungle and come back in the next
2 years and see how he has turned that jungle to a
palace. That is why the Igbos are found
everywhere. It is an inherent attribute and
hundreds of Femis cannot quench that. I do not
intend to dwell much on the killing of Igbos in
1966. The truth is out there!!
“Again, it is that same attitude that they
manifested in Lagos and the Western Region in the
late 1930’s and the early and mid-1940’s that
alienated the Yoruba from them, that led to the
establishment of the Action Group in April’’
This is yet another manifestation of shallowness in
research and it is utterly disappointing that Femi
does not even know the origin of the Action Group.
Action group was not established as a result of the
attitude of the Igbos. Chief Awolowo founded the
‘Egbe Omo Oduduwa”, which according to him was
designed to ‘promote the social welfare of Yoruba
land.’ Before he went to the United Kingdom in
1944, he was actively involved in politics where he
was the secretary of the Ibadan branch of the
Nigerian Youth Movement. In his autobiography
Chief Awolowo said that ‘the performance of the
people of the Western Region and the General
Conferences for the review of the constitution had
shown that they were unorganised and were
lacking in concerted program and effective
leadership’. The purpose of the AG was to provide
that leadership and to capture power at the
election that was made possible by the introduction
of the Macpherson constitution. So Femi should
know what led to the formation of Action Group
and cure himself of the delusion.
‘Mr. Herbert Macaulay. Macaulay, like most of the
Yoruba in his day, saw no tribe and he happily
handed the leadership of the party over to Azikiwe,
an igbo man, in 1945 when he was on his dying
bed. How much more can the Yoruba do than that
when it comes to being blind to tribe?’
Above is another infantile and illogical statement by
FFK. For the records, the NCNC was co-founded by
Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe and Sir Herbert Macaulay in
1944. Sir Herbert had founded the Nigerian
National Democratic Party in 1923. On formation of
the NCNC, Sir Hebert Macauley was the president
and Zik was the secretary. It will be rather absurd
and brazenly insulting to associate Dr Nnamdi
Azikiwe with tribalism in Nigerian political history.
Emeka Odumegwu Ojukwu wrote about Zik’s
Nigerianness, ‘ His Igboness was perhaps
accidental in that he happened upon the Igbos
only because the colonial office had accusingly
designated him Igbo and because the Igbos were
loathe to reject their own kind... He lived in
Lagos...Nigeria respected him... The Igbos
embraced independence as a vital stage in the
establishment of an ideal Nigeria, the ideal Nigeria
as seen through the eyes of Zik’. During a national
conference in 1954, the NCNC had opposed a call
to include the right of secession-a stance which
was later used as a weapon by the North and the
West to deny the East the right to secede in the
Nigerian Civil War. This decision was taken when
Zik was the Chairman of the party, the same
person Femi is accusing of enthrenching tribalism
in Nigerian politics.
Apart from the diarrhoeanic mouth of Femi, I am
not sure I have heard from any sane Nigerian that
Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe was tribalistic in his struggle for
independence for Nigeria. Femi-Fani Kayode’s
insolence is legendary. On Thursday may 5 2005,
Funke Egbemode wrote in the Daily independent
under the headline, ‘Where is Fani Kayode’s
mother’. ‘... he sure knows his way around English
but did he miss all the classes in Civics, Moral
instructions? Did anybody teach him traditional
respect for elders...?
Dr Reuben Abati writing with a caption ‘What has
God to do with it’ in 2006 in response to Femi Fani
Kayodes’s reaction to Wole Soyinka’s article on
governance in Nigeria wrote ‘ My dear friend Femi
Fani Kayode has done it again, helping President
Olusegun Obasanjo to intimidate and tongue-lash
anyone who expresses a contrary opinion about the
Obasanjo Presidency. He always managed the
fashion of a well-fed attack dog...when a President
keeps itself busy responding to every line of
criticism, what it is saying invariably is that it has
no respect for public opinion or the right of others
to hold a different view. Under such circumstances,
the presidency expresses its preference for
dictatorship. Such conduct is at variance with
democracy principles’ (I hope Dr Abati still
remembers this statement. The situation he
describes above is exactly what the Presidency is
still doing even in his tenure as an SA Media to the
president)
In 2005 when the then House of Reps gathered
161 signatures in readiness to impeach President
Obasanjo based on what they perceived as
abnormal, Femi described the moves as ‘minor
irritation’ and ‘infantile nonsense’. In response to
that Hon Abike Dabiri said ‘With people like Femi
Fani Kayode describing members of the house as
infantile nonsense, you know I would describe him
as very rude and unmannerly...I will just call him a
rude and unmannerly boy’.
In 2004, when Prof Achebe rejected the Obasanjo
national award, the Daily Independent of October
21, 2004 reported Femi Fani Kayode’s response ‘
we would like to confirm that it is firmly within
Professor Achebe’s prerogative to accept this
award. But if he chooses to reject it, as he has said
publicly, then we as a government will certainly
loose no sleep over it and neither will the Nigerian
people whom we represent and serve’.
One could go on and on to enumerate the
impudence of Femi Fani Kayode. I am not sure
there is any young Nigerian that could dethrone
him in the near future from the pinnacle of ‘rude
boyism’ in Nigeria’s political discourse.
I will conclude by quoting from Odumegwu
Ojukwu’s ‘Because I am involved’, ‘If we believe in
unity, we must be prepared to abolish ethnic
ghettos in some of our cities. Government must
conscientiously set about to diffuse ethnicity in our
body politic; blur those imaginary boundaries that
separate citizen from citizen; encourage all
Nigerians to feel at home anywhere of their choice
in Nigeria...

I voted this.

it is the real solution to our national problem.
but do you think the major beneficiary of this setting accept it, no.
they are working hard through APC to destroy it and revise us back to square 1.
they are the FULANI, YORUBA, HAUSA and KANURI

The days of e don doo is behind us. He has more to say but the utterances coming from the other side has shifted from "we own Lagos" and "Lagos is no mans land" to calls to restrain Fani. Femi does not mind personal attack against his person but he is upset at foreigners insulting his people. I bet you if Ibos had not stopped to voice their delusion about Lagos Femi would have dealt more blows.

The primary action that restrained Ibos was when Kalu was locked out of his house in Lagos. Kalu is one of top 5 most important SEasterners. Almost every Ibo leader has an abode in Lagos and if someone as highly important in Alaigbo as Kalu is can be locked out of his home by LASG then no Ibo is safe. Since that action we have not heard poo come any Ibo about percentage and ownershio or dispute about who owns Lagos.

Ibos love to be assaulted and they shall get it going forward in the new era they created for themselves. E don doo has been scrapped from our hearing.

Now I ask, is this the democracy? Where your dealt with for speaking out? Where is the freedom of speech? One thing is sure, what goes around comes around and don't allow anybody to deceive you or tell you otherwise. Abolishing all these ethnic lines is a sure way forward for our country.

the bolded are laughable but wait a moment did u in anyway see ibos as cowards? no they are not.
I can see through the bolded that you are happy that LASG is heating the ibos ryt? you are not alone on that quote me, too many yorubas do. but the question is "why did yorubas and Fulani, hausas hate ibos too much?"

the issue with ibos is that they Are matured, they don't talk anyhow;
in my home state the ibos has a lot of properties yet they make no noise so its in their nature.

am cool been in the midst of the ibos anyday anytime.

Are you going to make a law that henceforth nobody shall be known as hausa or Ibo or Yoruba? The Yoruba have done what is needed to keep Nigeria working, which is to accept the next person and accord him respect and dignity. If it is not reciprocated, I doubt any law will change that.

There is something positively unique about each tribe in Nigeria e.g . The Cross River and Akwa Ibom cooks so well, Yorubas are respectful, Igbos are enterprising, Hausas are known to be Honest. If only we can look at this lines, we can fight our enemy which is bad governance and we will defeat it.

Why is it everyone in Nigeria, EXCEPT IBO, understands and practices the principles of decorum and democracy in Nigeria? The problem is not Yoruba or the other Nationalities that comprise Nigeria, the cancer is Ibo.

It is so bad now that their cancerous presence is giving Nigerians bad image in foreign lands and in places where before now we were held in high esteem we have lost that honor.

Here is my theory: Ibos have realized being a nuisance and pain in everybody's neck will get them to Biafra quicker than fighting a war or asking to be freed. They want to be a pest and and irritate the rest and force the nation to yield to their demands, whatever that demand is. Their demand is broad.

Surprisingly they are succeeding and a lot of people are ceeding to their demands, Yoruba being the one that is most yielding, to the point we deny our own citizens their birthrights just so we can accomodate Ibo on our land and not be labeled unprogressive. As we have seen, particularly in Lagos, giving Ibo commissioner post in govt empowers him to demand more. He wants governor.

Democracy is dynamic. Yoruba will practice a new democracy towards Ibo going forward.

when someone like Uzor Kalu said he would sue Fashola to court, I laughed hysterically. A yoruba man will never be rude to you if you don't cross your boundarY! we all have elastic limits, then we break. Next time, don't claim king over another man's land! that's indirect stealing and false claim which is chargeable in a competent law court
