A professional course is one that equips you with qualifications and expertise in a specific field. These courses answer the dynamic demands of organised fields which require trained professionals in specific skill-sets. They also help improve existing knowledge and specialise in a particular field. Why Choose A Professional Course? The biggest advantage in taking up a professional course is that it offers higher chances of getting a Job than a plain degree course. Professional courses can offer you industry- specific training, including internships in the chosen profession. Teaching is done by qualified individuals and is specific, relevant and intensive. The focus of these courses is to turn the student into an industry professional with all the required knowledge and skills. Certification is an entry-level requirement for most professions and it qualifies you to practice the profession for a living. Thus, armed with a certificate in the profession of your choice, you are better equipped to find employment or opt for private practice in the specific industry. Types of Courses There are two types of courses from the industry classification point of view: Traditional Professional Courses and Non-Traditional Professional Courses. Traditional professional courses are for traditionally established fields such as medicine, law, chartered accountancy and engineering. Non-traditional professional courses consist of new and upcoming fields such as fashion designing, civil aviation, hospitality, media, communications, etc. There are two types of professional courses offered from the duration point of view: Long- Term Courses and Short-Term Courses. The duration of a long-term course is usually a couple of years, depending on the profession. Long-term courses are usually full-time courses conducted in the classroom. The focus is on imparting knowledge and the necessary training to make an individual an expert in the profession. The emphasis is on imparting relevant knowledge and training required to survive and excel in the profession. Short-term courses tend to be more of vocational certification courses or superspecialisations in specific areas and focus on imparting vocational training or honing special skills. They are usually from six months to a year long. |

The scope of professional courses The scope of professional courses is really wide and hence a large number of people opt for them. It’s always good to have a professional degree or certificate. It gives you an advantage over others in placement. Being professionally trained enhances your chances of finding a job. You cannot work in some specialised fields such as medicine, dentistry, law, etc, unless you have a professional degree. With the changing global scenario, new professions are emerging and will continue emerging in both traditional and non traditional sectors. Hence, the demand for trained and qualified professionals will only continue to grow both nationally and internationally over time. More students will prefer to opt for professional courses also because professional courses lead students into safer and assured career paths. The courses ensure them not only an entry into the profession of their choice, but also the necessary knowledge and training they require to survive and thrive in the specific profession in the long run. Keeping in view the changing face of the global economy and national development, there is an immense need for specialisation in many fields. This requirement for professionals with knowledge, training and expertise in various professions will lead to expansion of the types and varieties of courses required to create these professionals. With the progression of time the demand will only rise. As the global economy grows, the world population expands and newer fields of specialisations will emerge. So it is fitting to conclude by saying that professionals will always be required in fields that require a higher degree of skill, precision and expertise, both in theory and practice. www.directories-today.com/professional_courses |
