The state helmsman that gave party chieftains N1m each for lunch, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom state is undergoing probe.

And this is connection with an offence perpetrated by one of his key loyalist.

His staunch aide and chairman of Essien Udim, Local Government area, Mr Nse Ntuen was arrested in the United States of America on Friday August 16 2013 for smuggling $82,000.

The arrest was effected by the Maryland State Police on the premise that the suspect did not declare the money with the US custom officials - he only declared $5,000... And an additional $77,000 was found in his bag on inspection.

He immediately arrested and detained.

The Governor's loyalist reportedly claimed the money was for official purpose.

He claimed it was meant as donation at the Annual International Convention of the Akwa Ibom Indigenes in the US and Canada slated for Marriot Hotel in Washington, DC the next day, Saturday August 17 2013.
