90 feverish days have gone by, plus about 200
more of twiddling our thumbs, waiting to be
able to hook up to Channel 198 on DsTV. All
eyes glued to the biggest reality TV show on
television. We present 5 reasons you should’ve
tuned in to the live finale tonight.
It’s the finale!
This should be obvious enough but in case you
didn’t quite get the memo, permit us to
publish once more. It was the season finale of
the biggest show on the continent and that
means nothing else comes close to being as
important. Capisce!
The winner will be unveiled
In case you didn’t know. Of the final 5
housemates; Ghana’s Elikem, the Nigerian duo
of Beverly and Melvin, Dilish from Namibia and
Zambian rapper Cleo, one winner emerged and
that was the delicious Dillish. And isn’t that the
whole point of the last 90 days?
We heart host, IK Osakioduwa
We cannot get enough of IK Osakioduwa and
we admit it. Not when he does such a superb
job season after season of hosting Big Brother
Africa. We swear it has nothing to do with how
dapper he looks in a suit or anything else he
puts on for that matter. At this point, we
nominate IK to host everything from now on
including those dreary PDP conventions.
Ice Prince Zamani performed
For some reasons we cannot decipher at the
moment, Ice Prince has become the biggest
star on planet Africa. Okay, maybe not the
biggest but as we know, only the really really
really big deals close the Big Brother season.
And if Ice Prince isn’t quite your thing there is
the duo of R2BEES to admire.
Housemates will be reunited
The past 90 days have been bitter sweet as we
have seen some of our favourite housemates
leave the chase, prematurely at times. Tonight,
they reunited in all of their fabulousity and we
got to see love birds, Betty and Bolt, LK4 and
Koketso, ONeal and Feza. Also Beverly got to
reunited with her man Angelo, ditto Elikem and
Pokello and Hakeem and Cleo. Let the sparks
start flying.
BBA is going to trend anyway
For the grinches who will attempt to steal
Christmas (Yes! today might as well be) with
their tales of superior indifference, social media
was awash with BBA talk. Timelines were
flooded and status updates had nothing but
love for Dillish, the eventual winner. Nobody
wants to be caught waiting for second hand
information… certainly not you.
Congrats to Namibia’s Dillish Matthews!

Another year, another Big Brother season, and
how we’ve become addicted. The Chase like all
other seasons presented viewers with a motley
crew of housemates to care about, root for,
hate, love or love to hate. There were loud
guns, moody brats and swag queens. We
present 10 of our favourite housemates this
year. In no particular order.
Pokello
The self-acclaimed queen of swag was a hit
from day one when her sex tape flooded the
market shortly after The Chase started. She
proved herself a vibrant one too by starting a
love affair with Ghanaian Elikem despite having
a man on the outside and alienating the other
ladies in the process. Strong, independent and
hard to miss, Pokello sure brought a lot of swag
to The Chase.
Melvin
This hunky dude has had his fair share of
reality shows so we were quite ticked to find
him again on The Chase. His slow drawl initially
ticked off all the wrong boxes and we were
exasperated by his blatant disinterest in the
ladies. However the tide has turned and Melvin
is the man to beat. Yes he is Nigerian. Yes , he
still has little love for the ladies but that won’t
stand in his way come Sunday night. This one
seems to have grown on us.
Beverly
Sister Beverly kind of made it easy for Nigerian
audiences to trash talk her and gravitate
towards Melvin in the process, what with her
unladylike demeanour, care-free ways and
propensity for scandal. She may pray up a
storm when she is in a mood and read her
Bible faithfully in the mornings but she has also
been quick to jump into bed with South African
boo Angelo. However, it is all of these same
reasons that have kept her in the chase.
Viewers aren’t quite sure what she will reveal
next and her twerking skills keep us wishing
the Saturday night parties last longer.
Dillish
The quiet voiced beauty managed to become
Africa’s sweetheart and who can blame Africa?
Big Brother Africa hasn’t quite seen a mate so
lovely in some seasons. The anti-Beverly if you
will, Dillish’s comportment and perceived
decency has garnered her lots of fans and we
suspect her name will still be called up long
after The Chase is over.
Natasha
Mama Africa may have rubbed lots of people
the wrong way with her brash, overbearing
affect but we can all agree that the house was
a more dramatic place while she was in. And
what is Big Brother if not drama? Reality you
may say but that is all neither here nor there at
the moment.
Motama
Her hips don’t lie and neither do our affections
for her. Vivacious, flirty and always the life of
the party, we were sad when she made a
premature exit but such is the nature of The
Chase.
Bassey
The official best friend to the ladies, Bassey
kept us entertained with his colourful
disposition and those moves like Jagger.
Chatty, zippy and fun, he was always up to
something.
Sulu
Some called him a bushman, others found him
incredibly hilarious. Whatever your thoughts,
Sulu provided great entertainment and we
loved him for it. Not enough to see him
through to the final but we loved him all the
same.
