By Emmanuel Uzodinma on August 25, 2013

The factional national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh has faulted the court action instituted by Prof. Chukwuma Soludo against the party.

Umeh, who spoke to journalists in Enugu, said the recent disqualification of the former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Professor Charles Soludo, by its Anambra State gubernatorial election screening committee was in order.

Soludo joined the Anambra governorship race under the APGA platform could not scale through the screening exercise as he was disqualified alongside immediate past secretary to Anambra State Government, Henry Obaze, and three other aspirants by the screening committee.

The party was said to have disqualified Soludo claiming that he was under the investigation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Dissatisfied with the party’s action, the former boss of Nigeria’s apex bank dragged the party to an Abuja High court where he is asking for the setting aside of the party’s decision.

However, speaking with journalists in Enugu, Umeh, regretted that Soludo, could go to the level of dragging the party to court, even when he knew he had no case.

According to Umeh, “I think our brother Professor Chukwuma Soludo was not properly advised, because going to court is not the best thing he should have done”.

Umeh insisted that disqualification of some aspirants by political parties including APGA, remained purely an internal affair of any party, hence, no court had the jurisdiction to entertain such matter.

Umeh wondered why the economist turned politician should resort to going to court in a very clear issue instead of joining hands with the leadership of APGA in rebuilding the once troubled and crisis-ridden party.

He further explained that reasons for the non-clearance of Soludo, and four others by the screening committee were clearly stated in the certificate of disqualification issued to them.

He maintained that “the decision of the Onwuka Ukwa led 3-man screening committee stands, no matter whose ox is gored”.

Umeh further hinted that all was now set for the party’s governorship primary election slated for tomorrow, Monday 26th August, 2013 in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

We shall see about that wen APGA loses the coming election. Pride comes before the fall. U and I know PDP has no leg in Anambra, probably u want APC to carry the day so u can join Okorocha. That is the only rational for this deliberately putting urself out of work.

Was Soludo not under EFCC investigation when he contested under PDP? Didn't they know that he is under EFCC investigation before they invited him to APGA ? Imagine they even chop im money(10million naira) on top political slap wey dem give am. Soludo was so stupid to have fallen for that sh*t. Even if he wins Anambra Governorship election his stupidity will put Anambra in mess. He needs to be political sound before he can lead a state like Anambra. No be this one wey him do Smee smee.

Re: Disqualification: Soludo Has No Case – Umeh by Nobody: 1:08pm On Aug 26, 2013
The same Umeh who is saying nonsense went to Abuja to plead with Soludo to join APGA and run for governor. After collecting bribe,he changed and turned against Soludo. Umeh is a back stabber!!
Re: Disqualification: Soludo Has No Case – Umeh by Kulas: 3:10pm On Aug 26, 2013
This man called umeh has joined the corrupt power brokers.Like somebody said here, was dat same soludo not under Efcc issue when he contested on the platform of PDP.Obi and GEJ are the ones playing the game,so they have filled Umeh's bank account and ordered him to make public statement to uphold Soludo's disqualification.Obi want Obiano that will protect his fidelity bank affair and also deliver 2015 to GEJ,or if at worst that Obiano fail to make it,then let it be PDP candidate like Andy Uba as teleguided by GEJ through OBJ so that his 2015 will be assured in Anambra, and Obi being so loyal to GEJ,GEJ must ensure that even if its PDP,that the Fidelity bank interest must be protected. The only person they(OBI,GEJ,OBJ)dont want to smell that seat at all cost is Ngige of APC.Soludo the peoples choice has been messed up by the powers to be,but the question is WHY SHOULD ANAMBRARIANS ALLOW THE RETURN OF THE UBAH BROTHERS?,THE RETURN OF OCCULTIC POLITICIANS,MONEY LOOTERS ,ETC?.Time shall tell.
