Tax ID numbers debut in Lagos

TO reform its tax system and curb the activities of touts, the Lagos State government has introduced Tax Identification numbers, to allow for proper documentation and easy access to records of tax payments.

Confirming the development, the Deputy Managing Director of Alpha Beta Consulting Limited, Mr. Dapo Apara, said the current system now provides for a Payer Identification Number, written directly after the payer's name on the automated receipts.

With the ID number, he noted, payers can access all records of payment to the state government from time to time. He advised payers to always look out for the payer's ID number because of its relevance in all transactions involving the Lagos State Government.
