National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has sworn to deal decisively with former Vice-President Atiku Abubarkar, seven governors and other top party leaders for their roles in the formation of a parallel executive of the party. The National Chairman told journalists at the Eagles Square last night: “The PDP does not recognise any parallel party.

Those who staged the walk-out and organised a kangaroo meeting are all self-seeking and treacherous individuals pursuing neither regional nor religious agenda except their own agenda, except their own personal interest.

“Their attempt to create parallel party is illegal, unlawful as there are no crisis within the PDP whatsoever.

They were all active participants in the setting up of this convention. And many of them were with the President and rode with him to the convention venue and joined them in the salutation of all the delegates including their state delegates. “The PDP is studying the situation as it unfolds and will deal decisively as the situation warrants.

“It is obvious that they are creating crisis where there is none to give the impression that the party is divided. This in their thinking will allow them persuade loyal members of the National Assembly to cross-carpet with them.

We will resist this.” Meanwhile, the Special Convention returned five members of the National Working Committee after the counting of the votes last night.

Among the NWC members returned to their former positions are Deputy National Secretary Onwe Solomon Onwe who polled 2051 votes while Chief Olisa Metuh polled 1966 votes.

Others are National Woman Leader (2011), National Organising Secretary Mustapha Abubarkar (2125), National Legal Adviser, Victor Kwom (2053).

Other newly elected officers are Uche Secondus who is now the new Deputy National Chairman. He takes over from Dr. Sam Sam Jaja whose disqualification triggered off a walk-out by the Rivers State delegates. Dr. Jaja has joined the faction of the PDP still retaining his position.

Two other former members who could not make it at the poll are former National Treasurer Engineer Bala Kaoje who did not contest because of his academic deficiency in accountancy as required by the party constitution. Also, Alhaji Garba Umar Chiza, the former Youth Leader whose offence is said to be his relationship with his state governor, Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger State.

GEJ should be very careful with the way Tukur is handling this crisis, it's obvious he's gradually leading this party to the point of destruction. These men are too influencial to be dealt with by ordinary Tukur and co.

Atiku just registered pdm and the other governors that left with him registed vop that alot of people on nairaland celebrated so whats the fuse! Atiku and all those governors have been fighting gej and pdp national executive and the news has been all over this forum.. thank God theyve left pdp the others that gave the party bad names in the past are now progressives.

This is not the first time key members of PDP are leaving the party.. It happened in 2003, 2007 and 2011 yet PDP won . so I wont be surprise if it happen in 2015.. PDP is still the party to beat

@oxford,Allohrandy and Rt FNJ, you guys are bloody hypocrites. The era of rigging is over and by 2015 you will know PDP is dead.

ObJ rigged to remains in power in 2003,he also rigged for Yar Adua in 2007(remember Yar Adua confessed after swearing him into office). Also in 2011,GEJ rigged election in SS and SE respectively. Definitely PDP cannot win any election on a free and fair basis.
