Mesut Ozil is set to become the
most expensive German footballer
of all time after agreeing to join
Arsenal from Real Madrid for a
reported £42.5 million.

Ozil, 25, currently on duty with
Joachim Low’s Germany squad, is
set to undergo a medical in Munich
with Bayern doctor Hans-Wilhelm
Muller-Wohlfahrt before signing a
contract, Bild has reported. He has
agreed personal terms, the paper
said.
It claimed Ozil has verbally agreed to
a five-year deal. He has yet to sign
the contract, but the move will be
made official at 4.30pm BST.
During Gareth Bale's introduction as
a Real Madrid player earlier on
Tuesday, thousands of Madrid
supporters were heard chanting:
"Ozil no se vende" (Don't sell Ozil).
Ozil is set to earn £6 million a year at
Arsenal, where he will be reunited
with former Werder Bremen team-
mate Per Mertesacker and fellow
Germany international Lukas
Podolski.
The deal will make him the most
expensive player ever sold by Real
Madrid, with the current record held
by Robinho's £32.5 million move to
Manchester City in 2008.
The current transfer record for a
German player is held by Bayern
Munich’s Mario Gotze, who made a
€37 million switch from Borussia
Dortmund earlier in the summer.
Ozil's move comes at the end of a
transfer window which has seen
Arsenal frustrated by their failure to
land Gonzalo Higuain, who left Real
for Napoli, or Luis Suarez, who now
appears likely to remain with
Liverpool.
