Debewari’s whereabouts is currently unknown to the police.
The police in Rivers State on Monday in Port Harcourt declared the Aide-de-Camp, ADC, to the state governor, Chibuike Amaechi, Seimeikumo Debewari, a deserter from the force.
The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Administration, Augustine Sanomi, said in a statement that Mr. Debewari had ceased to be the ADC to the governor with immediate effect.
Mr. Sanomi alleged that the officer ignored all lawful directives to see the state commissioner of police and the Inspector-General of Police since July 10 over his role in the fracas at the state House of Assembly.
He said the whereabouts of Mr. Debewari was currently unknown to the police.
“The commissioner of police acted on the Police Act and the Regulation Cap of the Federation of Nigeria 1990,” he said.
Mr. Sanomi also said the Inspector-General of Police had acknowledged the desertion of Mr. Debewari from the force.
The Nigeria Police Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said if a police officer leaves his duty post for 21 consecutive days without permission, police act and regulation authorised the force to declare the officer a deserter.
“Being a deserter is an offence because the officer involved can be arrested without a warrant of arrest,’’ Mr. Mba said from Kano.
Mr. Mba also said that it was within the purview of a state commissioner of police to declare an officer a deserter in the force if he committed the offence.
The Rivers State Government had earlier said Mr. Debewari was taken abroad for treatment after sustaining injuries in a violent clash that occurred in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Which Career? So police work in Nigeria has become a career to you? For your info, the ADC is currently being taken care of pending when APC take over government in 2015. Mark it , the guy is coming back as a Bayelsa State commissioner of Police, and it would be a pay back time. cool cool

The usual Nigeria noise. I have friends that joined the police in 1993 after their Lasu days. Their lives are just fine. With a federal government guaranteed pension. How is this, not a career, you think everybody in the force enters with WASC or GCE
