Re: Teach me a Dialect! by Michaela(f): 10:10pm On Jan 22, 2006 |
Jalal: @ Jalal: You certainly mean the "ä", "ö", "ü", "ch", "ß".... Well, one can't really describe the meaning and usage of them. hmmm.... For example: The German language knows the "s" and the "ß" . But the usage of the one or the other is quite complicated. Well, i.g.: foot is "Fuß" in German, here we use this "ß", because the u is spoken longly. River means "Fluss" in German, here we use the "ss" because the u is spoken shortly. |

Re: Teach me a Dialect! by Michaela(f): 11:48pm On Jan 23, 2006 |
Well, "ä,ö and ü" are our so called "Umlaute". Instead of "ä" one can also write "ae" and so on. |
