I just asked my source there, says it seems the corper is a relative that's why she's being paid such amount cos teachers earn BTW 25-30 or thereabout sha. some teachers were recently sacked so she's sure of the vacancies.

As per the working conditions, just OK. Remember its 3 women in charge so you know what to expect. All the best ma.
Can u help me ask ur source if they use little excusses to sack anyhow? Thanks a lot

How workers of private school are treated......u should get my drift and that is the essence of unions to curb the excesses and fight to improve staff welfare.

pls no matter comfort u re enjoying in ur present work let's try to rise for the injustice against our fellow graduates that is the essence of calling for a private school teachers union

Good day all, I benefited one way or the other from this thread but come to think of it I had this idea running through my mind which came as a result what I have noticed in the education sector we graduates are at the mercy of school proprietors that pays peanut all in the name of salary, treating graduates as if they haven't pass thru university system at all. This private school owners have an association called Napps but we graduates working in so called private schools don't have any union per say to address all the injustice melted out to us..in this light I will love the movers and shakers of this thread to think of way we can save the brilliant Nigerian graduates from the mess ...pls sunnapar,Golden doctor ,profdgay,upload111 what's d way forward

Endtime1, I feel your pain. Do not be surprise that this your idea would materialise but some of our colleagues that are cowards would not want it to see the light of the day...... many are suffering and smiling. This idea of your is a good one, but how do we begin? I dey kampe.... because this movement would pave way for those behind us, unborn teachers and generation yet unborn.

To form a union is easy to say.......truth be told it may never see the light of day and remember there are a lot of things involved law, recognition, registration e.t.c I will say it again there will be injustice meted out to staff just hope and pray for God's grace until you can stand on your own in the process of getting understanding get wisdom change is inevitable.

Question
I studied Physics/Education...honestly, I desire to have higher degrees so I can lecture rather than teaching in a high school. However, there is no cash to actualize that for now hence the reason for saving. Meanwhile, if I get a good job I may want to forget about it, maybe.

Since you studied Education, you are a professional in the field already. How much will you need to start a Masters degree? How much will you need to start a Tutorial centre? If you asked me, i would advise that you begin to teach in tutorial centres so as not to be restricted by regular schools. With your discipline, you should be able to teach some of the most sought after subjects: Physics, Mathematics, JAMB maths etc. If you are in Lagos, you could also register with some educational consultants that will pay you to teach private students.

While you do the above, a big secret will become open to you; 'there is no big deal about starting your own tutorial centre or even a school'. If you do the above, you will meet with guys who would offer to take one or two subjects in your new Tutorial centre or school. You will employ a school cert/OND graduate as accountant/Secretary for accountability. Keep delivering private lessons for some months even after you have started your own to cushion the initial start-up stress you may encounter along the line.

In 24 months, with hard work, commitment and God on your side; you will be wowed by where you would be. Your postgraduate degrees can come then, it would be less stressful and more focussed.

I did most of the above years back, i made a lot of money; but instead of starting my own school and run a PgD in education, i went for a Masters degree. Although i work with the PG degree today and do my own businesses, i would have been far ahead if i hadn't gone off that path.

Lastly, make up your mind on one thing, don't allow what people will say or how certain people will feel influence your decisions. Make your decisions and work it out!
Christ' love to you.

Well, from what I read, you are still planning and I would say finish the plan. It would not be a bad idea if you take a day or two to drop your CV to schools within the place you wish to relocate to, meanwhile not all schools have an email address hence my suggestions, however, you could check previous pages.

They say, who ask for direction, do not get lost.
Firstly, let me congratulate you on taking this huge step to develop yourself and add value to the society at large.
Secondly, it all depend on the school you choose.
Finally, I think you decided to study French for a reason or perhaps you had passion for it. You can choose to study early education, child psychology or any other course relevant to children.....you wonder why, you monicker says a lot.

Most times,I keep wondering why it is like that. Most teachers works with their mind and heart. Teachers are the most important people on earth just like doctors and security officers,we save life... we impact life because when u educate a child well...u are building a great generation. We need to be paid good salary with allowances. We just need to stand up to claim our rights of good treatment. We can start the union from a small group,if we can put ourselves together very well stating our aims and objectives...our voice will be heard. This is my take #peybuttons

You have spoken well, even you and I would not want our unborn children to be teachers because of the way they are despised. A drop of water make a mighty ocean. Avicky, upload, Prof.gray, Bros G.....let make this a reality..... You do not know how many life's we would be saving even though we used it as a spring board to kick start our career. It is a teacher that would teach your children.
Impossible is nothing.
